Surrealistic Digital Art / / _“Let there be light” is an English translation of the Hebrew יְהִי אוֹר (yehiy ‘or). Other translations of the same phrase include the Latin phrase fiat lux, and the Greek phrase γενηθήτω φώς (or genēthētō phōs). The phrase is often used for its metaphorical meaning of dispelling ignorance. The phrase comes from the third verse of the book of Genesis in the King James Bible: 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. / 1:2 – And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. / 1:3 – And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. / 1:4 – And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness._ / / Pair with… / / / / / MCN: CCB37-A1E56-16AAA / / © Imber 2007. The ring is on my hand, And the wreath is on my brow; / Satin and jewels grand Are all at my command, / And I am happy now. And my lord he loves me well; But, when first he breathed his vow, / I felt my bosom swell- For the words rang as a knell, / And the voice seemed his who fell In the battle down the dell, / And who is happy now. But he spoke to re-assure me, And he kissed my pallid brow, / While a reverie came o’er me, And to the church-yard bore me, / And I sighed to him before me, Thinking him dead D’Elormie, / “Oh, I am happy now!” And thus the words were spoken, And this the plighted vow, / And, though my faith be broken, And, though my heart be broken, / Here is a ring, as token / That I am happy now! Would God I could awaken! For I dream I know not how! / And my soul is sorely shaken Lest an evil step be taken,- / Lest the dead who is forsaken / May not be happy now. ... One of the reasons I love Redbubble so much, is the inspiration that other artists give me. Some time ago my australian mate Michael Bermingham posted Old Yanchep Inn which to me is a timeless classic. Then Shelly Hiebert posted Sacred which is just a fantastic image. I always wanted to get a shot similar to both of those and digging through my archives back to 2007, I came across this image I took with my Nikon D50 in the Madison State Capitol building. A little HDR processing, converted to B&W, little noise reduction applied, some Dodge & Burn (which Kimberly Palmer first introduced me to) and this is what I came up with. Please also look at Michael’s and Shelly’s image, as well as Kimberly’s work.
I would like to Matthew Murray for letting my use his image( Into the light ) I love his art photography. into the light

This is MANY photos, layers, and textures deep. so much so I could not understand why my iMac was being slow towards the end well turns out the raw unmerged file is well over a GIG. I think this is my biggest yet. / Thank you for looking! This actually started out to be a DARK Image but nothing would really work out. Once I completed it I showed my brother. He and I are very close and he said have you noticed that you are no longer in the dark at the bottom of your art? You are now in the light and right in the center and moving higher with each piece? / WOW what an impact that had on me! My earlier art was dark and basically I was putting myself in Hell in most of my work But I think I worked through so much with my art that time and gaining some self worth has moved me upwards and I have allowed myself to leave the self made cage/hell and go into the light and really LIVE. / Thank you Joey for helping me along the way. I would never have made it without your Love.
For Rob. As of 11.23.09, 1361 views, 31 favorites, and 94 comments Towards the end of the novel, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera writes: “And therein lies the whole of man’s plight. Human time does not turn in a circle; it runs ahead in a straight line. That is why man cannot be happy: happiness is the longing for repetition.” I wondered then when I first read the novel—some 20 years ago, and I wonder today about the relationship(s) (probable and hypothetical) between happiness and repetition. This is the first of several shots that I took while in Adelaide over the weekend. This is a laneway off a main street in Adelaide city centre. It grabbed my attention as I walked past, the dilapidated building, the door, the lone milk crate. It gave me a creepy feeling, even though it was mid afternoon. So I put the powers of post processing to work, blanched out colour, selective colour and contrast adjustment on door and a bit of lighting effect. The contrast of dark and light to aid the scary mood of this one. This gave me the feeling that someone was being held here, against their will. Within reach of the public, but so well hidden no one knows they are there. This moment is when the search party looking for them for days, maybe weeks, finally gets the clue that leads them here.
