Another photo manipulation, this one was inspired by a situation my friend was in, I decided to cheer him up with a digital present. It’s about not giving up of search for truelove/happiness. The face might be rusting away but it’s still looking, still hoping. / Currently working on an oil painting of this with brown eye colouring rather than blue for a monochromatic look. I made this with a fineliner and a piece of paper. It’s possible it’s a breach of copyright even though I always write in shapes. If I disappear it’s because a shoe corporation has eaten me for breakfast. Here’s a detail, and below I’ve written out the text because I’m in a good mood. What happened to the days when we only replaced things that were broken, beyond repair? Where does our desire to replace new with newer stem from? How are we so easily convinced that our lives are barely worth living without those extra inches of plasma, that additional megapixel, or another twenty gigabytes of space in which to store the remnants of our increasingly digital lives? To bastardise Victor Papanek, what is this vicious, unhealthy desire to consistently spend money we don’t have on things we don’t need in order to impress others that don’t care? How can we let multi million dollar corporations sell our individuality back to us through a mass produced, sweat shop constructed pieces of apparel? Have we found total freedom or absolute disconnect? / Answers on a postcard to the usual address.

BEST VIEWED LARGER / HAPPY HALLOWEEN / Caught this at the Sydney Group Meet – Eerie Is’nt it ? The doors of the St Michael the Archangel Chapel (commenced in 1886) . Rookwood Necropolis, at 283 hectares (700 acres), is one of the largest burial grounds in the world and one of Australia’s oldest cemeteries. It has been in continual use since it was established in 1868 and over 800,000 people have been interred within the grounds. The headstones and monuments reflect the history of the colony Of New South Wales and the development of the city of Sydney. The heritage values of the cemetery are protected by an act of Parliament. / / The original 81 hectare (200 acre) heritage area, located in the north western corner of the Necropolis, is subject to a Permanent Conservation Order and represents the largest and one of the finest surviving examples of a Victorian public cemetery anywhere in the world. Rookwood was originally designed in the grand gardenesque style, fashionable in the mid to late 19th Century. The brick gutters which defined the ornate landscaping can still be seen, together with the highly decorative monuments and other features including the chapel of St Michael the Archangel and the Serpentine Canal with its elegant ponds, bridges and urns. These were set in formal gardens with rest houses to cater for mourners and visitors This shot was the result of a Sydney group meetup on Saturday 14th June, the site definitely has a feel to it. Ive never seen so many black crows . The site definitely has an atmosphere with graves dating back to the early days of the colony.. In its day there was a rail service with a special funeral train that left from a purpose built station at Sydney’s Central Railway station.
