  • This image, ‘Elixir of Life’ is one of the ‘High Society’ series of images captured during March 2006 at the ‘High Society’ party in a Doncaster nightclub which, with glass walls and a location nine floors above the suburbs, is blessed with spectacular night views of Melbourne. / / / To create this images, the camera has become an electronic sketch-pad, documenting light’s interaction with sound, its movement to music an essential component of the process. The emergent compositions reflect journeys into a plethora of disparate visual environments … above and below the oceans, from the microscopic to the panoramic, through history’s bricks and mortar, and back again, to the frenetic point where light and sound merge in a cacophony of beats and bodies.

  • Stand your ground and give ‘em your best ‘bulldog scowl’... An enormous excavator makes threatening gestures to the cooling towers beyond, which are indeed living on fast ticking borrowed time. If they ‘blow’ these babies I wan’t to be around when the plunger goes down!

  • If I could offer one single piece of photography advice, it would be – “Take far more shots than you need. Make sure its ‘in the can’, instead of wishing you’d done things differently.” Looking back through my folders I found some ‘handy looking’ Infrared exposures I’d made of the cooling towers at Thorpe Marsh last summer… Lightly HDR’d to lose some of the flare and finished, without too much fuss, using a subtle blue tone.
