  • English bulldog sitting pretty

  • 9×12 watercolor enchance colored pencil. Part of a series. The Brabant, also known as the Belgian Heavy Draft , takes its name from one of the breed’s principal breeding areas. Although no longer well-known outside its native country, it is one of the most important heavy horse breeds, and has a strong following in the USA. / The breed is very old and is thought to descend directly from the Forest or Diluvial horse. Horses like this were known to the Romans, and from the 11th to the 16th centuries, heavy warhorses were produced in Brabant and Flanders. Complete 2006

  • I thought this would be a nice card to illustrate the old cliche, “A woman’s work is never done,” and to honor women everywhere who work hard at home, on the job, within the family circle, in the community, in the church, in public service. This energetic little Eastern bluebird female exemplifies an honorable work ethic in her diligence at nest-building. (Note the bedraggled look of poor little Mama’s feathers; temperatures were in the 90s and she was really feeling the heat and humidity! Just about the same concept as a housewife sweating over the stove or the ironing board!)

  • Goat. Photo based illustration. “The scapegoat was a goat that was driven off into the wilderness as part of the ceremonies of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, in Judaism during the times of the Temple in Jerusalem. The rite is described in Leviticus 16. / The word is more widely used as a metaphor, referring to someone who is blamed for misfortunes, generally as a way of distracting attention from the real causes.” (quoted anonymous)

  • Size: 11×14 inches / Medium: Acrylic / Support: Stretched canvas This is Billy. He has the most amazing eyes. We adopted him about three years ago. For some reason, he had no undercoat. All he had was just a single layer of rough topcoat. His doctor thought that he had some kind of allergy that prevented him from absorbing nutrients. He now has both undercoat and topcoat and gained a lot of weight. Yes, he is one healthy, happy guy!

  • This is my first attempt playing with food dye, water and my computer monitor as a brightly lit backdrop. See here for how I created this shot. (The stack of dvds were implemented after this shot was taken) / / This was pretty damn difficult without a tripod or assistant.. One hand holding the camera , one hand holding the dropper, full of dye. Having to get focus on the camera, hold it straight, shoot and drop the dye at once.. I need a tripod haha! / / I had heaps of fun trying to make this work though. Soon learning that dropping the dye closer to the front of the glass allowed for more clarity in the shot. / / The next step will be multiple colours, but not till a tripod is involved lol. Featured in Color & Light / Featured in Out Of The Blue / Featured in The Beginners Corner / / Slight crop of original, adjustment of brightness and contrast for colour control. / / Canon 50D / 58mm, 18 – 55 / f5, 1/320, ISO 1600 / / MCN:CRR2W-5HDN9-7U4H3

  • Round two of the Rainbow Drowning project. See here for how I created this shot. (The stack of dvds were implemented after this shot was taken) / / Was holding the camera portrait for these ones, to get a bit more depth and length in the shots. The dye squirted harder than expected, causing a fast and long rippling effect in the water. / / Loved the contrast between light and dark in these ones and the background blur too. / / Crop of original shot, with adjustment of brightness and contrast. No other enhancements to this series. Featured in The Male Photographer / / Canon 50D / 58mm, 18 – 55 / F5.6, 1/80, ISO 400 / / / / / / MCN:CW9F2-AMK6S-WPAKR
