Self Portrait This image is from the exhibition titled ‘Disturbia’ In “Housing Warming’ the violent tendencies and strain produced by the maintenance of expected social behaviour are unleashed. In fulfilling their duties as proud hosts, the house-mates adopted a display of celebratory cheerfulness and buoyant good humour. Now that their guests have left the house dishevelled and damaged, the recriminations signal that the party is definitely over.
A few months ago I heard this song called A HORSE WITH NO NAME. I recalled it from my high school days. I just fell in love with the song again (lyrics below). And…last weekend while in the State of Virginia—I saw this horse that just sort of posed for me. It was my very own ‘horse with no name’; however, I think I’ll call it SUGAR. A HORSE WITH NO NAME (lyrics) On the first part of the journey / I was looking at all the life / There were plants and birds and rocks and things / There was sand and hills and rings / The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz / And the sky with no clouds / The heat was hot and the ground was dry / But the air was full of sound I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name / It felt good to be out of the rain / In the desert you can remember your name / ‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain / La, la … After two days in the desert sun / My skin began to turn red / After three days in the desert fun / I was looking at a river bed / And the story it told of a river that flowed / Made me sad to think it was dead You see I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name / It felt good to be out of the rain / In the desert you can remember your name / ‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain / La, la … After nine days I let the horse run free / ‘Cause the desert had turned to sea / There were plants and birds and rocks and things / there was sand and hills and rings / The ocean is a desert with it’s life underground / And a perfect disguise above / Under the cities lies a heart made of ground / But the humans will give no love You see I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name / It felt good to be out of the rain / In the desert you can remember your name / ‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain / La, la …
9×12 watercolor enhanced colored pencil / The American Rocky Mountain Horse is probably the latest addition to the world’s horse population. The registry was opened as recently as 1986, but since then there has been a steady development of this distinctive and attractive animals. Visually, it is not difficult to see the connection between the Rocky Mountain and the Spanish imports of early American history. Complete 2006

I took this photo one morning in a brief moment of sunshine through my kitchen window. I know I’m 30+, but I’m still impressed beyond words at the patterns in nature that we see and don’t notice. / Till I tried this little back-light experiment – I really didn’t appreciate the intricate network in these leaves. / Felt that B&W really focussed attention on the pattern. Taken with Nikon D80 / 105mm AF-S VR Macro / SB-800 In the Fine Art of Photography Group.

Just thought I would introduce everyone to Finn, the newest member of our family. He’s an abyssinian that we got from a breeder in Kilsyth. After losing all our other pets in the bushfires it left a bit of a hole in our lives. This little fella is making things a lot easier :) Settings Canon 40D, 50mm prime 1/80th @ f1.4, ISO 200 As is…

Rainy Day – walk / Amersfoort NL – Heiligenbergerbeek NS-hiking path (Dec.9, 2008) Going for a hike is a favourite pastime in the Netherlands. No wonder that so many hike-routes are described and signed, so that it is easy for people to follow the route. / For me personally: nothing as inspiring as picking up my camera and gear, and setting out for a hike, be it here right in my own neighbourhood, or a little further away… With the camera in hand, I discover beauty with every step I go! :) These pics were made during an early morning winter walk in Amersfoort the Netherlands – Two weeks before the “Frozen world – walk”, Stephan, a photographer friend and myself the first part of this same hiking path… Most of it in the streaming rain… :( The dikes are such a typical feature in the Dutch landscape… often, large parts are fenced, so that sheep can roam freely on them… :) When the sheep doomed up before us on the path, surrounded by these majestic oaks, it felt to me as is we were walking into another world all together, another realm… Misty, wet, dark and moody weather, but awesome scenery… Hope you still enjoy… (we did!) ;) ...
