  • mikoto’s Daruma Doll someone asked me at my stall at Paddington Markets about the meaning behind the skull logo. I talked to them about how I wanted to achieve a balance between cuteness and evil/cheeckyness in all of the mikoto designs. Having the skull and cross bones with love heart eyes and a cute smile symbolized that. I also talked about how having one eye coloured related to the Japanese Daruma Doll. The Daruma is a Japanese doll that is sold near Buddhist temples all throughout Japan. It symbolises optimism, persistence, and strong determination because of its ability to be tilted to one side and always return to the upright position. The doll’s eyes only contain the color white. Using black ink, you fill in a single eye while thinking of a wish. If the wish comes true, the second eye is then filled in. When I designed the logo I made one eye black with the Daruma Doll and a wish in mind. The mikoto logo is representative of a personal Daruma. It holds a wish that I hope one day Ill achieve, and represents the qualities I need to possess to make it happen. hopefully, my goals will one day come true, and Ill be able to colour in both eyes. thanks for taking the time to meet mikoto’s Daruma Doll scotty

  • Molly the Lil Witch, A Heidi for Oscar by Paul Rees-Jones Well You have heard the tale of Molly the witch, / And the doll folk she made in a pinch. The story doesn’t end quite there, / Cause Oscar needed someone fair. Molly’s heart went out to her lovesick little man, / She asked Oscar to put some stuffing in her hand. She used it to make a wonderful girl, / With a cute smile and hair without curls. She called her Heidi and Oscar just stared, / Molly could see how much he cared. Ophelia, was not too impressed / To her this girl was a complete mess. Already she saw her brother’s love show, / Unfortunately for Heidi, she had to go. Ophelia worked out 22 tries, / knowing one would spell that Heidi’s demise. and so we shall wait and see what transpires, / As Ophelia prepares balloons, pits, spikes, and fires.

  • Molly the Lil Witch, Oscar and Ophelia by Paul Rees-Jones The night was stormy and rather bleak, / Molly was a little bored witchy freak. She mulled over spells and warmed up her cauldron, / To create some friends to end her boredom. She delicately sewed a doll from rags, / Smiling and singing, a rather cute hag. And when she was done she was bright as a star, / Because held in her hands was the rag boy, Oscar. But soon she thought about the little boys heart, / To be all alone when his life just starts. So she borrowed small string of yarn from his hair, / And fashioned Ophelia, a sister to share. A spell and a cloud of nasty green smoke, / And Molly had made two little doll folk.
