  • Fog snakes through the valley and across the tree tops in the rolling green hills of Dollar in Gippsland Victoria.

  • This woman is a victim of a seemingly never ending war in southern congo. She has suffered sexual violence (rape) so severe it has rendered her incontinent. She now exists purely as a result of a courageous charity called Heal Africa, and indeed her own inner strength and faith. I asked her if I could take her portrait and she stood up (which must have been painful), straightened her back and stared straight down the lens. No stopping to straighten her scarf, no preening, no fear. Just an honesty so raw, so uninhibited and so rare, I caught my breath and thought I’d never breath again. I was totally overpowered by her intensity. After I took the shot and showed it to her she smiled and thanked me. It still gives me a shiver to look at it now. HEAL Africa calendar available now!!! • / Isn’t another bad day (yet again) on the stock markets the perfect time to show you my latest still life in the “nostalgia” series, entitled: the stock market. / As usual, old and new elements are mingled together. The painted with light technique was used again, as well as digital manipulation to get the end result I was after. / It’s strange, I spent months planning this shot, preparing and getting the props and then in a few hours time it’s shot. It’s almost an anti-climax. / Well, I hope you enjoy it! / By the way, this is the fourth installment in this series, I’m withholding the second one which I consider my masterpiece in this series. I’ll probably upload it in a few days. / °°° / A wallpaper based on this photo can be found here more work / the calendar /

  • Dried honesty found on a walk around the park. There’s something so faery and otherworldly about the flat, transparent discs of parchment thin seed heads on this plant, also known as Moonwort or the Silver Dollar plant.

  • Eat It Up Kids / I’m aware the greedy rodent analogy has been used before, but having experienced first hand with my children recently the power of global brand marketing, I thought this idea expressed my concerns. Actually physically consuming the brand message has got to be the ultimate result of a targeted campaign. The charity Childwise estimated that children in the UK spend £4.2bn annually. Other figures suggest that children assert an influence over almost 10 times that amount, the term used is Parent Pester Power. / Source: The Guardian

  • I found this sand dollar in Panama City Beach FL, last November 2007. and I spent weeks thinking about how to portray it so that the size could be appreciated. I pulled alll the shiny pennies from my change jar. It didn’t look right on top of Lincoln’s bust, so it is the only penny upside down. The Shell Maiden / / I come from the rain of sky and sea, caught / on the web of a shoreline daisy, braced low / and spinning in carnival delight with the / kiss of Pacifica’s mist. I come from the company of driftwood and seashells, bleached white as a wedding train waiting to be worn. The waves roll like a wedding march / announcing the union of land and deep blue dreams. / They bring a dowry of tangled vines and sand dollar spines, / and my heart says YES to this sailors treasure. I come from the flutter of dry seaweed, / no longer rich with Oceana’s brine, and yet / adorning the beach with seafoam flare, / like rice and petals clinging to the foot of a runaway bride. Bring me the delicacies of your wedding feast, snapped up in the yellow of a jealous lover’s bill, for I am treading softly here on honeymoon beds of ancient sand, / inscribing moon colored vows / on the framework / of whales.
