Snow
This is Hope my Lurcher, on a snowy febuary day in 2007, she wasn’t that keen on the weather but did oblige me with this quirky shot. I have another Lurcher called Grace as well as Rubicon and Renegade the Ferrets who complete the team, Hope has the nose for finding quarry and Grace has the speed to fill my freezer. Here are the two dogs playing in the snow.
Taranaq, granddaughter of the Tundra and her faithful companion Nanuk, the guardian spirits of winter. I went to bed…. couldn’t sleep…. so got up and created this. It turned out to be kind of peaceful, and comforting. Perhaps now I can close my tired eyes and dream sweet dreams until the morning comes – all too soon. Self portrait and stock images from sxc.hu

Untouched and a total accident,a macro shot of snow that fell down the roof last winter.I hope I’m not the only one who sees a part of a face in the clouds… :))...better view larger So close,so far… / It felt like eternity… / I walked …and walked / lost in a paradise of ice Hopelessly crying, hoping / to be delivered from that immensity. / I reached to the top of that icy pic / and saw a small refuge. For an euphoric instant / I saw His Face in the clouds / The Keeper of my souvenirs / I knew ,then / The reason of my wanderring… Gigi / / My first poem in english and first experience for me.This situation happened to me two days ago,I’ve got lost in the woods for 4 hours, walking and walking, desperate to find a saving light. It was so dark, even Tchoko was worried, chasing imaginary animals….then I saw thousands of stars all arround me,it was fireflies….it was like being part of the universe…nothing else but fireflies…then I realised I was out of the woods.I met 6 persons and asked for help, one of them let me do a phone call but Michel was working late and wasn’t there.I have to say that I hated humanbeings that night and I cried of rage instead of fear.I finaly saw a police car on the road and went back to where I was parked. It was midnight.Tchoko and I slept all day after, tired but happy to be home. / ...A true story ..thanks for reading…x / / PS. I wanted to do the sunset on the top of a mountain, the same place I took «Together at last»but I forgot the time shooting mushrooms…. :)))..it’s all me. / /

My dog, Griffin – looking up into the sky as snow falls on him. I peeked out the second story window to take the picture.
My Irish Setter (Tallow) having fun in the snow in order to get this shot I had to walk my dog knee deep in the orchard, have him sit and then retrace my steps on the way back. I did this so that when I took the photo you wouldn’t see my footsteps in front of Tallow (my dog). I did this 3 times and then ran out of orchard. This was the best of about 50 shots. I guess I should have planned ahead and shot at a different angle so that the trees weren’t shown behind him 2 Greeting Cards sold Challenges / 1st place Challenge Winner Mans best friend’s (It’s winter time) 5th place in What makes ME happy in the group Who ARE you to Judge? 4th place in “Running Dogs and Cats” in Cats and Dogs group challenge 5th place in “Avatar Challenge- Action!” in phoDOGraphy 5th place in Pet’s in Action (Paws N Claws group) 2nd place in “Your Beautiful Pets” in Canon Vs Nikon group 1st place in “5 or more Features, Dogs and Cats only” in the group Paws n Claws / Sept 9, 2009 / Wait for me Featured in / Speed / Mans Best Friend’s (Dogs only) / Cats and Dogs (1 per day) / phoDOGraphy Aug 28, 2009 / Animals in Action Aug 28, 2009 / JPG Cast-Offs Aug 29, 2009 / Bits and Pieces Sept 2, 2009 / Snow! Thank you Cats and Dogs group for TWO FEATURES! The Life of a Puppy This morning, I woke up & kissed my dad’s head. / I peed on the carpet, then went back to bed. / “The life of a puppy, oh my, this is great.” / Then I thought about breakfast,” I hope it’s not late.” / Mom took me outside, we walked for a while. / This never fails to make Mama smile. / I sniffed of everything, that we did pass, / I ate something weird – it gave me gas. I’m sure God loves me, I know that is true. / He gave me so many great things to chew. / Rugs, plants or rocks, I really don’t care. / What I truly like best, is Dad’s underwear. That obedience book, was sort of yummy. / Though it didn’t sit well on my poor puppy tummy. / I threw up a bit, but that was all right, / When Mom found it later, I was well out of sight. I made streamers of T. P., while running at full speed. / Mom is pretty quick—but I was still in the lead. / I flew under the bed, and Mom flew past, / She stopped-shook her head, and breathed, / “You’re too fast.” Mama later phoned Daddy, and said, “It was frightening!” / That afternoon, she was sure I’d pooped lightning. / She’d sat at the computer, while I chewed the cord, / She thought I was mad, but I was just bored. When Mama had enough, couldn’t take anymore, / That’s when my tushy got shoved out the door. / I love it inside, but outside is best. / Lay in the cool grass, and had a good rest. That didn’t last long, there was too much to do— / Can’t quite remember where I hid Daddy’s shoe. / I found an old bone, and scratched at a flea, / I watched the dumb squirrels as they jumped in a tree. I barked at the kids, when they got off the bus. / I can’t figure out why this makes Mama fuss. / I barked at the neighbor, I barked at the wind. / I barked and barked, till Mom yelled, “COME IN.” The sun dipped in the west-soon Daddy would come! / I sure love my daddy: we always have fun. / I barked at my daddy, then turned on my charms, / I woo-wooed, “Hello,” then jumped in his arms. Sitting under the table—it’s sooo hard to wait. / Daddy slipped me a goodie right off his plate. / I raced through the house, and scattered my toys, / Ricocheted off the furniture, and made lots of noise. Mom found her purse – the one I abused. / Daddy let loose a chuckle. Mom asked “Amused??” / I cowered down low, I must be in trouble. / Dad said, “Wasn’t MY boy, it must be his double!” Mom turned off the TV, and said,”Time for bed.” / Dad said “Let’s go boy,” and patted my head. / I got in my spot, between Mom and Dad, / I thought ‘bout my day and what fun I had. Mama kicked out my bone from the covers below, / Then let loose a sigh—a sigh deep and low. / She gave me a kiss, and snuggled me tight, / And whispered so softly, ‘My darling goodnight’. Took this today (01/10/09), of Harley in the snow. He was shaking the snow off of himself. We adopted him two years ago, from a shelter. He is a golden retriever/australian sheperd mix, with some chow. Great guy! LET IT SNOW is featured today 01/11/09 in Cats and Dogs group. / Placed in the Top Ten of the Cold Weather Challenge in the Cats and Dogs group. 01/22/09

Lucky, our female labrador/german shepherd mix, seems to be pleading with me to go and play with her in the snow. She was moving a lot and I haven’t been able to get a clear sharp shot with her completely in the frame. I kept this shot anyway just because I love the look in her eyes. Lucky has been rescued from the shelter in Montreal a year ago by my sister. She was sick with kennel cough and needed a temporary foster family to bring her back to health. One month later, she came to live with us permanently because my sister could not bring herself to send her back to the shelter. We are all very fond of her. Somewhere on Earth…
/ I was inspired by a photograph from my childhood in Wolf Point, MT. (ca.1947) Carrots, the red Cocker Spaniel, had the same birthday as I do and was my constant companion. By the time I was dressed to go out in the snow, I couldn’t move. Graphite Pencils 5H to 6B / 8.5×12 inches /

This is the dog of my aunt… Ben… he has taken part magnificently in the Shooting… not as well as our Rocky which has itself, unfortunately, always a little silly… Ben had joke with the Shooten and I by the treatment… and therefore we wish you a wonderful soon Christmas!!
Our husky-cross, Marushka, in the snow. Not sure how I deleted this one from my portfolio, but it was without a doubt my most viewed image, and my personal favourite! How to make the most of a blizzard? Ask a husky! Canon Rebel XT and 18-55 Canon lens. f/5.6 ISO 400.
Sienna and I wish you a very Happy Holiday Season!!! In August, I took this photo of Sienna watching the birds through my patio door. For this digital compilation, I replaced the “outdoor” scenery with a picture of a snowy pine tree from my yard, added snowflakes, and a slight orton effect to add a dreamy effect for the holiday season!! I really don’t have too much time on my hands…. my housework, holiday wrapping, cards, and cooking are waiting for me!!!!!
Another wintry experiment with one of Sienna’s pictures (original photo shown below). She was standing in the snow along Clarks Creek, but I converted the picture to black and white, added falling snowflakes and a red holiday bow to make her look a bit more festive! / Original taken February 2008. It was fairly easy to make the snow. I just searched on the internet for a Photoshop tutorial to make snow and found it instantly. Here’s Sienna’s original picture: /
...or, “I’m just taking my dog for a walk!” or “I’ll race you back to the livingroom!” / / I was taking pics of the sqrl when the dog jumped into the frame. They know each other and co-exist in my house. Do you see the dog looking at me? I think she had come and gone before the sqrl knew what happened. The sqrl kept playing in the snow instead of coming back to me. (Toni Squirrel is brain damaged and can’t be released. I’m a wildlife rehabber)
