During a trip to a local zoo, this smart groundhog took it upon itself to do something about their lack of food. Fed up with being underfed and malnurished it took drastic action. / Another few hours and they will be eating like Lords!

So… what noises DO Giraffes make? I scribbled this idea on the back of a receipt, and as soon as it was printed, I couldn’t nail it down. The simple ones are the good ones. / Giraffes don’t make any noise, either, apparently…

This was a nightmare….. and a play ! My four bordercollie pups discovered a leak in the garden hose without me knowing it. I heard the noise and ran outside….., turned back grabbed my camera and this was what I found ! Four pups sopping wet, covered in mud and a gardenhose with a then “huge” leak !

It is always the Chase with Spot, the conquest is secondary. But then again they had it coming, first the mouse ventured out for that last forbidden morsel, and of course Tabby just could let the opportunity pass…well then the rest is history as they say. What is not shown, as it was too graphic for the housekeepers it what lies on the flip side of this picture…the mess. Some things are better left unseen! The largest female in a litter of nine: the parents being Bela and Troy (also featured in my portfolio). Taken with Sony Cybershot 9 May 2009. The hairiest of the Rotties ….a gorgeous girl who ‘knows it’. The Rottweiler, or Rottweil Metzgerhund (“Butchers Dog”), is a “medium to large size, stalwart dog” breed originating in Germany as a herding dog. It is a hardy and very intelligent breed. Rottweilers also worked as draught dogs, pulling carts to carry meat and other products to market. “Rottweiler breeders aim at a dog of abundant strength, black coated with clearly defined rich tan markings, whose powerful appearance does not lack nobility and which is exceptionally well suited to being a companion, service and working dog.” The Rottweiler was kept busy in these traditional roles until the mid-19th century when railroads replaced droving for getting livestock to market. Although there are still Rottweilers working stock all over the world, many other roles have been found for this versatile breed. During the first and second World Wars, Rottweilers were put into service in various roles including as messenger, draught and guard dogs. Currently they are often used as search and rescue, assistance, guide dogs for the blind, guard and police dogs in addition to their traditional roles. Although an extremely versatile breed used in recent times for many other purposes, the Rottweiler is first and foremost one of the oldest, if not the oldest, of herding breeds. A multi-faceted herding and stock protection dog of exceptional ability, it is capable of working all kinds of livestock under a wide variety of conditions. The breed is an ancient one, whose history stretches back to the Roman Empire. In those times, the legions traveled with their meat on the hoof and required the assistance of working dogs to herd the cattle. One route the army traveled was through Württemberg and on to the small market town of Rottweil. The principal ancestors of the first Rottweilers during this time was supposed to be the Roman droving dog, local dogs the army met on its travels, and dogs with molosser appearance coming from England and The Netherlands. This region eventually became an important cattle area, and the descendants of the Roman cattle dogs proved their worth in both driving and protecting the cattle from robbers and wild animals. However, by the end of the 19th century as railroads became the main method for moving stock to market, the breed had declined so much that in 1900 there was only one female to be found in the town of Rottweil. Photograph taken with Sony Cybershot early this morning – 20 May 2009. Other than cropping for redbubble the picture is as ‘real’ as it gets, ‘untouched’ and ‘as is’. The metal man had arrived and was reinforcing Alkatraz aka ‘The Den’ as my pooches have become little Houdini’s amongst other things. The sound of the drill scared them and they came to me for protection – being the evil mother that I am I left them sitting and tried to catch the moment. To get all six in one place and not chewing, fighting, digging or eating was simply beautiful. A friend of mine, in Mozambique, has a “Wirehair Terrier”, we were next door neighbours when I lived in Mozambique. “Spikkels” would always be there, whenever I went for a adventure stroll, with my camera of course! This amazing “ritual” happened everyday! This crow would come and actually play with him! He would dive down and chase Spikkels and then Spikkels would turn around and chase the crow again! They did not know each other, grew up together or nothing between them that could cause this! I have numerous captures of them playing on these outings, just wanted to share this!
