  • This is a mixture of watercolour and pastel and is of the Wansbeck, a local river where we spent most of our childhood – a time of wartime restrictions and no home entertainment beyond board games. In those days we fished for food rather than sport. Regardless, it was great fun.

  • Narrative / http://www.redbubble.com/people/edwardfish/journal/1046376-an-audience-with-the-hapless-narrative The Making of / http://www.redbubble.com/people/edwardfish/journal/1046719-the-making-of-an-audience-with-the-hapless Extract / By now, still unable to contain his amusement the dog was rolling about the room as his master swatted and flapped with one hand whilst pulling bird after manic bird from his throat with the other. And then with a thud to the back of my head came blackness. / Waking to find myself face down on the floor, I could hear the grating wheeze of the dogs laughter and the tinkling of broken glass falling from my back as I rose to my knees. I rubbed a tender spot at the base of my skull, and then my eyes. / Through a haze of dust and feathers the scene before me gradually came into focus. The frenzied attack on my host continued, and it was clear that despite his bravery, his efforts to fend of the relentless beasts had become futile. / However, at the very same moment his eyes had suggested a man resigned to his fate, with a swipe of his glove he was able to buy himself enough time to reach into his overcoat and pull out a large shiny object which he tossed into the air. / The object – a medal of the grandest order- fell at the feet of the sniggering hound. The dog looked down at the prize and breathed out a deep sigh of smug satisfaction. “Well…” gurgled his battle worn master, by now at the limits of his patience: / “DON’T JUST STAND THERE LIKE AN OVER GROWN FRICKIN GOOFBALL…D-O-O-O SOMETHING!!!!!”

  • Two retrievers attentively watching two fishermen on Lake of the Woods, Ontario. The dogs, particularly the little one, want to go in and retrieve the lures. / The little brown one went along on one fishing trip. As soon as the lure hit the water, she dove out of the boat and started swimming toward the it. Fortunately we were able to pull her back into the boat before she connected with the lure. No more fishing trips for that one! /

  • These are working fishing vessels near where I live . .they have so much character and inherent beauty to me.. Your comments very welcomed and respected . done with my Kodak Z1285 I Heard these words echoing below from / A Salty Dog by Procol Harum One of the most beautiful mystical songs I have ever heard (brooker / reid) please look below to see A Salty Dog video http://www.jango.com/music/Procol+Harum?l=0 Here are the lyrics… all hands on deck, we’ve run afloat!’ I heard the captain cry / ‘explore the ship, replace the cook: let no one leave alive!’ / Across the straits, around the horn: how far can sailors fly? / A twisted path, our tortured course, and no one left alive We sailed for parts unknown to man, where ships come home to die / No lofty peak, nor fortress bold, could match our captain’s eye / Upon the seventh seasick day we made our port of call / A sand so white, and sea so blue, no mortal place at all We fired the gun, and burnt the mast, and rowed from ship to shore / The captain cried, we sailors wept: our tears were tears of joy / Now many moons and many junes have passed since we made land / A salty dog, this seaman’s log: your witness my own hand

To the Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Assyrians, it was honoured as a symbol of fertility. 2. In Native American tradition, the fish is a symbol for mystical secrets, for it can swim to the deepest regions of the ocean and explore its hidden knowledge. 3. In British lore, it was believed that eating fish before lovemaking could enable a couple to conceive a child. 4. The early Christians used the fish as the symbol for the Christ Consciousness. It was widely believed that this symbol resulted from the Greek acronym for \”Jesus Christ, Son of God.\” But there is also the fact that the coming of Jesus ushered in the Age of Pisces the Fish, which encapsulates the mysticism, love, and happiness to which all world traditions ascribe to the fish. 5. In Scandinavia, fish was considered an aphrodisiac, and was popularly consumed on Friday, the feast day of Freya, Goddess of Love – and in her honour Friday was a day dedicated to lovemaking. There are, therefore, many possibilities if you dream of a fish – all good, even if the fish was a greatly feared one like the Shark [a powerful Hawaiian Aumakua]. If there is a possibility of a pregnancy, dreaming of a fish could mean that a child is on the way, and the pregnancy and birth will be uneventful and result in a healthy baby. If the dreamer is in love but is not yet sure about the beloved’s feelings, dreaming of a fish strongly indicates that the feelings are indeed reciprocated. Dreaming of catching fish, either with a pole or with a net, indicates success and prosperity ahead. Seeing fish swimming in a clear pool indicates that a number of secrets about yourself and the world around you are going to suddenly become clearer.” Information Source from MSN Free Dream Dicitonary Astrocenter Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
