1939 Garwood runabout docked at its boathouse on the Torch River, just off Torch Lake in Northern Michigan. National Geographic once rated Torch Lake the 3rd most beautiful lake in the world. Standard power in these boats was a Chrysler inboard marine. This one had the Garwood/Gray racing engine. It was beautifully restored and has been in the same family since new. The boathouse was custom built to house the boat.
This old trawler is listing to one side & about to be dismantled. / The owner of the shipyard was kind enough to let me take her final portrait. / The smoke is from factories across the river in Murrarie, Brisbane, Queensland Australia.

In 2008 a semi-feral mother cat had 2 female kittens in my backyard. I adopted all three. This is Tayla, one of the kittens, relaxing on the dock in the early morning. She is a very affectionate cat, which is surprising since she spent the first few months of her life outside, without any human contact. She still loves playing outside, but is just as comfortable curling up inside in her favorite spot for a long nap. She is half siamese, half typical tabby cat. :) We almost lost her in May of 2009 to a poisoinous snake bite. She was struck in the abdomen by either a rattelsnake or cottonmouth, that she apparently did not see. A trip to the ER vet helped her pull through, although she lost a lot of tissue on her abdomen and had a huge open sore that took over a month to heal. We are so glad she is back to her playful loving self! I plan to donate a portion of sales of any of my cat pictures or art to our local cat rescue organization SOCKS (Save Our Cats and Kittens). They are a great non-profit organization and no kill shelter that rescues hundreds of cats from being euthanized at other shelters every year. We went for a bike ride last night… stopped at a marina and had a beer along the way. We were out for nearly 2 hours. Was fun! / Luckily, we didn’t get rained on…. it rained a bit later.
