This is one of my first attempts at tints and post-processing. It’s still one of my favourite images.
This is a photo of the sea barrier at the wharf in St. Phillips, Newfoundland. The salt water from the ocean has rusted the bolts and caused this array of rainbow colors to stain the wood. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

When we are sad we feel insignificant…. spaced out – and can’t see the glorious world in front of our faces… just for a moment… and then it passes and you see it all again…. this image represents that moment in time, with a pure expanse of aesthetics in front of the figure completely lost in his own sadness. _and for an insight by Andrew Walker into the very creative mind and inner workings of the vanzella mind read the following

The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. How many men were lost at sea and how many made it home with wild stories of his adventure aboard the Icelandic Harvester. / / Shot with a Canon 400D and processed in Lightroom 2. / / NautilusBlue / / nominated this image to be showcased in the group Pay It Forward and this is what she had to say… / / Ice Breaker / by Kevin Kroeker / I think it is an outstanding image with great composition ( great leading lines) with lots of drama and the colours are amazing . It shows us the harshness of the climate. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /
Mixed Media (watercolor with white acrylic highlights) 12”x8” on linen canvas sheet. I would love to tell you about the location of this work, but the truth is my RB friend Carolyn Staut sent me the photo I used for this painting. She responded quickly to my indecision of what to paint by emailing me half a dozen photos. How cool is that?
Hadn’t been here for around 10 years when I took this photo yesterday, the ship hasn’t moved an inch since i was here last. People can board the Castlemaine on weekends for a small price or during the week by appointment. HMAS Castlemaine (J244/M244/A248), named for the city of Castlemaine in Victoria, Australia, is a Bathurst class corvette of the Royal Australian Navy. Laid down by the Melbourne Harbour Trust at Williamstown in Victoria on 17 February 1941, launched on 7 August 1941 by the then Mrs. R. G. Menzies (wife of Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies) and commissioned at Melbourne on 17 June 1942. Castlemaine paid off to reserve on 14 December 1945 and was immobilised at HMAS Cerberus at Crib Point in Victoria as a training hulk for Engine Room Artificers, who ran the boilers in part providing steam heating throughout the base. In September 1973 the Minister for Defence announced that the Australian Government had made a gift of HMAS Castlemaine to the Maritime Trust of Australia to become a maritime museum. Castlemaine is presently berthed at Gem Pier, Williamstown, Victoria, adjacent to the historic Customs House. Colour selection was done in Lightroom and HDR in Photomatix
