  • Memories Of Summer
    by Joanne Bradley

    US$4.32–US$98.80

On the morning of November 1st this dock at the boat launch is peaceful and calm. November inevitably brings the long period of wind, rain, snow flurries and eventually a white winter blanket that covers the land. But today the sun shines despite the cold and all is tranquil. / I cannot help but hear the children’s laughter, the dogs barking, and the splash of water all around, people carrying on conversations while launching or mooring their boats and tying them to the dock. The summer sun is high in an azure sky and only soft puffy clouds float by. Armed with picnic baskets and coolers, families and friends come to the boat launch area with high expectations of fun and frolic for the day whether taking a tour of the lake or intent on some serious fishing. Now the area is quiet. It seems as if the town workers have yet to come and remove the dock to take it to its winter storage. The sun is lower in the sky; the colors have changed from vivid and vibrant green and blue to the more sombre tones of November. And yet memories of summer linger on… Taken on Saturday morning November 1st at the public boat launch for the town of Deux-Montagnes, Quebec CANADA overlooking the Lake of Two Mountains. Converted to sepia in camera. /
