She was only here for 24 hours, but the biggest cruise liner in the world attracted tens of thousands of people to marvel in her sheer size and beauty. As a departing gift, Sydney put on a spectacular fireworks display as both the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 cruiseliners visited us for the first time in over 60 years. / QE2 arrived in Sydney Harbour only hours prior to QM2 departing.
Vibrant, flamboyant panting of the colorful homes and harbours found in the Atlantic Canada provinces and in the Maine, New England areas. I spent many vacations with my family in these beautiful quarters and there is something so heart warming about the architecture, harbours, the many seaside shops, cafes, and restaurants; and of course the beautiful ocean and all the fishing boats and seagulls. It reminds me of summer and the way it should be.

I took this shot in one of the many outport communities along Newfoundland’s Avalon Penninsula. There were so many of these crabpots stacked along side many different sheds. / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /
Twilight settles in over Logan Martin Lake in Alabama. 2nd place, Samford University Earth Day Art Show 2008
On the morning of November 1st this dock at the boat launch is peaceful and calm. November inevitably brings the long period of wind, rain, snow flurries and eventually a white winter blanket that covers the land. But today the sun shines despite the cold and all is tranquil. / I cannot help but hear the children’s laughter, the dogs barking, and the splash of water all around, people carrying on conversations while launching or mooring their boats and tying them to the dock. The summer sun is high in an azure sky and only soft puffy clouds float by. Armed with picnic baskets and coolers, families and friends come to the boat launch area with high expectations of fun and frolic for the day whether taking a tour of the lake or intent on some serious fishing. Now the area is quiet. It seems as if the town workers have yet to come and remove the dock to take it to its winter storage. The sun is lower in the sky; the colors have changed from vivid and vibrant green and blue to the more sombre tones of November. And yet memories of summer linger on… Taken on Saturday morning November 1st at the public boat launch for the town of Deux-Montagnes, Quebec CANADA overlooking the Lake of Two Mountains. Converted to sepia in camera. /

Well sort of, can’t cross that fence though. I’m loving learning and testing out the HDRI process with my photos, it just brings so much more to life. I love it! This pic was taken in Newport RI Bowens Wharf

Canon 50D + Sigma 10-20mm / 10 second exposure @ f16 / Exposure and Shadow adjusted in Adobe Lightroom. I do like Piers. This one looks like it’s seen better days though. I don’t know how long it will still be (barely) standing. A little busy these days, will hopefully look at all the new work shortly. Enjoy your week!
