  • This is a photo of the sea barrier at the wharf in St. Phillips, Newfoundland. The salt water from the ocean has rusted the bolts and caused this array of rainbow colors to stain the wood. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

  • Fishing trawlers tied to the wharf in the St. John’s harbour. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

  • This is a composite photo taken in Shalimar, FL near the edge of the bay. It was a glorious summer night. I applied the NIK skylight filter to deepen the reds in the picture. I also shot the sun on the same night to the west of the bank. I’ve combined them for a rich summer night shot. / /

  • When we are sad we feel insignificant…. spaced out – and can’t see the glorious world in front of our faces… just for a moment… and then it passes and you see it all again…. this image represents that moment in time, with a pure expanse of aesthetics in front of the figure completely lost in his own sadness. _and for an insight by Andrew Walker into the very creative mind and inner workings of the vanzella mind read the following

  • Although nature photography is probably my favorite sometimes I see ordinary objects sitting in a particular way and have to take a picture. Rarely do I move objects to compose a picture because I think things in the world are amazing just the way they are- you just have to look at them the right way. I was laying on my family’s old dock at our lake place in the sun and looked over at my flip flops and had to run back to the beach to get my camera for a picture :) I did take what color there was in the dock out in photoshop to focus the eye more on the old blue flip flops. /

  • Long exposure by a local pier. Jevnaker, Norway. October 2007.

  • This watercolor is typical of thousands of little piers that dot the Intercoastal / Waterway.

  • is where I want to be, she may be…

  • Lake Balaton,Hungary

  • This image was created at the Apollo Bay Docks early in 2008, went here for a holiday just as I was getting into Photography. I went down to the docks just as a storm was rolling in and it made for some interesting weather conditions! This pic was created from one raw file. I changed the exposures in Lightroom and then merged 3 images using Photomatix, increased the blue and green saturation levels in Lightroom and added a bit of contrast. This is the result! • The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. How many men were lost at sea and how many made it home with wild stories of his adventure aboard the Icelandic Harvester. / / Shot with a Canon 400D and processed in Lightroom 2. / / NautilusBlue / / nominated this image to be showcased in the group Pay It Forward and this is what she had to say… / / Ice Breaker / by Kevin Kroeker / I think it is an outstanding image with great composition ( great leading lines) with lots of drama and the colours are amazing . It shows us the harshness of the climate. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

  • Mixed Media (watercolor with white acrylic highlights) 12”x8” on linen canvas sheet. I would love to tell you about the location of this work, but the truth is my RB friend Carolyn Staut sent me the photo I used for this painting. She responded quickly to my indecision of what to paint by emailing me half a dozen photos. How cool is that?

  • Berkeley, CA Approx 20s exposure / 22mm@f10

  • framing suggestion /

  • I took this shot of the marina… it was cold, wet and foggy

  • The rising sun burns through a misty morning fog, making a ghostly image of shrimp boats at berth in Apalachicola, Florida, USA. Apalachicola is a lovely, historic, commercial fishing and tourism town on the Gulf of Mexico. Ghost Fleet won the monthly avatar challege in the group “Nautical.” Photographed with Fuji FinePix A205 (2 megapixels). Not recommended for prints larger than 11×14 inches (28×35 cm approx.)

  • Plants screaming.. water me.. much to do. But last night..hummm in a land land far away.. I went ship building / . / I found a bay that is full of life / hinting at growth / I found a dock that houses a boat my size / (omg.. fantazimal dimensions) / it’s called a slip / and that’s just what I did / slipped right in, / and so the contract said / expansion expected / nothing stays the same / get ready to move round the bay / seaworthy you will become / besides movement is / good for the hull / holding my heart / and my lungs / where I breath in deep / and smell salt scents / I lick those whenever possible. / However… / I am still trying to pack light / as I would like racing as an option / just in case / passion expands too / then I shall head for the sea / and allow my sails to set a course once again into the unknown.
