Photographers can often get caught in trying to get their images to be technically perfect. Is it sharp/in focus? Is it properly exposed? Does if follow the ‘rule of thirds’?...etc. Sometimes though (and usually not often enough), we need to throw all of that away and just let our creative juices take over. This image is of the harvest moon riding across the horizon. __ View more of my work at www.DLPhotography.ca”.

Whilst on the Arann Island of InĂs Mor for a wedding, about a month ago, we decided or John decided that it would be a great idea to go for a swim in the nearby Atlantic Ocean. So we did. Was it cold? Go on will ya! It was grand! Just fine once you got down for a few minutes. This photo was taken by a young press ganged German tourist after being given instructions by a man in his wet underwear. Not a bad photo considering.
With photography there are always opportunities to take another look at subjects that are often disregarded because one fails to see anything in them. This photo was taken when I found a palm fond that had fallen from a Golden Cane Palm in my garden and I saw the patterns resembling timber grain. With a little post processing using a blue filter and some curve adjustments I ended up with an abstract piece that I found attractive; I hope you do too.
A macro look at a fallen palm leaf; the rich timber grain look attracted me to this subject.
