  • This is another abstract of some crystals with glass…..hope you enjoy…. Division of Light The One Light cannot be divided, but extensions of the One Light can appear to divide it. The spots of sunlight upon the cathedral floor are many, but they are all / extensions of the one light of their source in the sun. Likewise ALL mankind is an extension of the One Idea of man for man is but One in the Light of his Source. -Walter Russell / / ____ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • “My Grandfather’s shop was too tall for the shelf, so I sold it and opened up a stall…. selling Joy Division Oven Gloves!” Parody of Joy Division Substance, referencing the great Half Man Half Biscuit.

  • Union Colonel Johnson looks down to the Valley below, as his troops secure the perimeter for the ensuing night. The last days’ battles resulted in significant casualties on both sides. Col. Johnson settles down at his field desk to write the following report: / / “Headquarters Couch’s Division,”Williamsburg, Va., May 8, 1862. “Sir, I have the honor to report that at 1 o’clock P.M., of May 5, the head of my Division, consisting of Peck’s Brigade only, arrived on the ground in rear of the center of our line of battle, and was by direction of General Keyes, posted by me supporting him, he being fiercely engaged. Peck soon moved forward, and for an hour and a half was opposed by nearly the whole of the enemy’s disposable force in front, covered the assaults of their infantry and cavalry, / but the determined courage of this Fort Magruder, distant 400 to 600 yards, with its plunging fire of shells and grape gallant officer and the steadiness of his brigade foiled all attempts to drive him from the ground. “The left of the 55th New York was twice forced back, but the 93rd Pennsylvania and the 72nd New York Volunteers, coming up furiously, recovered the space lost. *There was very little faltering, and I beg to say to the General / commanding that I want no higher earthly honor than to be the Commander of the First Division of this Corp. *The list of casualties were: Peck’s Brigade, killed, 18; wounded, 81; missing, 26. Deven’s Brigade, 1 killed and 2 wounded. Artillery detachment, 1 wounded. Total loss, 19 killed, / 84 wounded and 26 missing. Image created via layering 3 images total. My art with 1000+ views

  • I decided to do this after watching the film ‘Control’. The film told the story of Ian Curtis, the enigmatic singer of Joy Division whose personal, professional, and romantic troubles led him to commit suicide at the age of 23. My aim for this design was to show that when you lose a control over almost everything, then sometimes life and death is the only thing we can take a hold of.

  • This piece of typography was inspired by ‘Digital’, the last song ever performed by Joy Division, just before the suicide of the band’s singer Ian Curtis.

  • A door panel.

  • My Step-Dad, Bill, turned 85 this past Friday. Bill is a WWII Vet. He enlisted when he was 18 and was in the 28th Infrantry Division. This Division is the oldest Division in the history of the armed forces in the U.S., going back to 1879. Stationed at Normandy, he was part of a three man team that shot a Howitzer Canon. He explained to me how it worked. The guy on the left set the position using a guide to sight their target. The guy on the right then set the canon into the proper position, after being instructed by the sighter. The guy behind the canon would have previously loaded it and when all was set, he would be commanded to set it off. They were on the front line. They all took turns rotating jobs. After Paris was invaded and then taken back, Bill marched under Arc de Triomphe in Paris with the 28th Division from Pennsylvania, among tens of thousands other soldiers to celebrate their victory. While here at my parent’s house, I happened to find this picture of Bill in a Photo Album. I had it scanned in and then went on July 4th to a nearby helicopter Museum during the darkness of the night. Driving all over the grass to get the right lighting, I put on my high beams to capture this old Shawnee. Then I framed it for Bill’s Birthday. He was so surprised and pleased!! Unfortunately, my Step-Dad is now riddled with Alzheimer’s Disease, however, he not too far gone! Yesterday I got him to hand dance and told him that we were doing the “Hand Jive!” He laughed and I love to make him laugh!! So, if you have it in your heart, please wish Bill a happy belated Birthday!!! Thanks ya’awl!! :))) The picture of the helicopter was shot in West Chester, Pennsylvania with a Canon 40D. American’s marching after fighting for 7 weeks in Normandy to celebrate their victory of reclaiming Paris: /

  • In fear every day, every evening, / He calls her aloud from above, / Carefully watched for a reason, / Painstaking devotion and love, / Surrendered to self preservation, / From others who care for themselves. / A blindness that touches perfection, / But hurts just like anything else. Isolation, isolation, isolation. Mother I tried please believe me, / I’m doing the best that I can. / I’m ashamed of the things I’ve been put through, / I’m ashamed of the person I am. Isolation, isolation, isolation. But if you could just see the beauty, / These things I could never describe, / These pleasures a wayward distraction, / This is my wandering prize. Isolation, isolation, isolation, isolation, isolation / Joy Division Thanks to Tama Blough for scratched metal texture. / Grunge texture by Tex Choors /

  • This is a pencil sketch that was digitally colored. Baggage has somehow become a way of life. It is as if everything I see, touch and hear is tainted by this baggage. It’s as if my hands are tied and my mind is bound in another place and time while my body moves about the daily grind of work, house, garden, caretaker and overseer. I marvel at how much the mind can juggle and still manage to accomplish tasks. I’m even more amazed how that same mind can help make a difference in the lives of others who are not privy to its inner burdens. fma
