this was shot in Grytviken, South Georgia. The building has now probably been bulldozed as it was part of the dangerous ruins of the once whaling town. It is the town where Shackleton turned up looking for help to rescue the rest of his crew who were still stuck on Elephant Island after their ship, the “Endurance”, was crushed by ice.
It’s bone… weathering like wood or stone
More rust and ruins..from the falling down(now removed) centre of Grytviken, South Georgia. This was shot on 120mm neg film.

This work was created in oils, and depicts two human figures; the blue figure is disassembled from a fetal position and is segmented about the composition, the other more predominant and central figure (painted in warm red tones) is mildly distorted. There are various smaller images used as collage, accenting certain parts of the figures and words highlighting particular concepts. The extremely dark hues in the painting actually comprise a full circle, and they are scattered about (broken apart), helping balance in value, some of the other shapes. There are different positive and negative spatial relationships and symbiotic line elements that I had worked within the painting, which I find to be very intriguing. Please let me know your thoughts as to what you can decipher. This painting was produced in 2005.
Almost couldn’t think of a crumbly enough name
digitally altered oil painting (background removed, image duplicated and flipped), I hope that is not too much editing for the PiMTcompetition :-) / original here falling apart
Original acrylic on stretched canvas (36 in. x 44 in.) Gary & I both collaborated on that incorporates both a micro- & macro- perspective on America’s eroding influence on the socio-political world scene. It’s an abstract based on Benjamin Franklin’s image on the U.S. $100 bill. The erosion suggests a post-American global economy reflecting the U.S.’s chaotic and crumbling financial state. Life drawing – man transcends as his disintegrating body falls to the floor in the throws of death. / (Drawing with ink on paper in 3 different brush types.)
I have these ‘old’ baby photos that I have been struggling to work out how to best ‘present’ for some time. To me, they are an extremely valuable resource, as the expression in the eyes of the child is not possible to fake, and at least to me, not one ‘seen every day’ (I hope, anyway). I find them extremely difficult to work with as because of their age, the resolution is extremely low and I find them very difficult to ‘blend’ with any images taken with my current camera… This is another attempt. I feel happier with this – at least today – than with any of my earlier attempts… Make of it what you will. The LARGE view gives a much greater impression of both the original old image, and the finished composite.
A leaf from my backyard :) I think it looks really cool in the sunlight. / Manual settings, manual focus, hand held. / Olympus E510 / 1/200 / F5 / Iso 100
I came across this old run down house and barn of sorts driving around out in the country in between Midland and Odessa Texas. I did add a timeline effect on this in Corel This was taken in between Midland and Odessa Texas with a Panasonic FZ50 Disintegrated /
Nikon D90 / Nikkor 70-300mm lens Close up of a rusty pole on a dock. I went sailing with my family this weekend so I spent some time wandering the docks looking for cool stuff to take pictures of. I really have a thing for rust and decay….hope that doesn’t mean something bad…...
Image No. IV in this series. Though – this time I have attempted something new. Besides the core image and my own texture images, I have also used 1 stock texture from the internet. As some of you may know, I am a bit of a techy dodo, so my ability to do the ‘clicky linky things’ is somewhat limited. Because of this, I made very sure when I was looking through the incredible mountains of texture and grunge images available to use on the net, to only download a few of those I found that were very clearly described as being for ‘totally free use – no attribution or anything required – just go for it’! So – I’ve had a go at ‘going for it’, to see if I can still create as well in ‘my style’ using a texture image I have not captured myself, as I do using all my own images. Please, let me know what you think: does it impact on my ‘style’ of work to integrate another’s texture layer in with my own? Any texture layers used in this image are also very heavily manipulated from the original. Please view LARGE for a better view of the detail :))) FEATURED IN ‘THE ART OF INTRIGUE’! FEATURED IN ‘THE VOYAGE OF THE SURREALISTS’!
2009 acrylic on 18”x24” canvas. The primary purpose of this painting was to test a theory/technique, it didn’t have quite the effect I thought it would but I think I like it.
