Winner of the Still Life Painters In Modern Times competition Thanks to everyone to voted for me and supported me in this event, I’m very honored by the feature and thankful! Take care! 12×12 Acrylic on ceramic; mounted to a hand finished wood box frame. This still life painting was created for a donation to the March of Dimes ‘Signature Chef Auction’, in Portland Oregon, helping saving babies! / This is one of two paintings I created for the series I call “Maine Dish”; they were fun to create and taken from my personal experience crabbing and fishing. In these works I really tried to capture some of the classic beauty of Maine from the color combinations I chose of the warm mahogany hand finished frames to the very detailed painting of the shellfish themselves. As you study these works closely there are many details to notice, I included like the lobster shells lustrous shine and the crab’s shells colors and texture. I tried to breathe real life into them. I hope you enjoy them as well. For commissioned work you can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios

I just had to revisit the abandoned farmhouse where I shot the image The Tenant / / / / This is a view from the kitchen looking in from the outside… the windows are all beat out of the house and you cannot get to the kitchen from the inside because the floor is unstable and you’ll probably end up in the basement. So I had to improvise and go outside to get this shot. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / More In This Series / / / / / / / / / / / / /

revenge is a dish

Just another opportunity to take a well-known image and bastardise it I’m afraid. Everyone’s beloved little HMV doggie has nefarious orders beamed directly into his furry little brain by his faceless master, somewhere on the other side of the universe… (I don’t think that the universe actually has sides or corners or anything og the sort, but this work is all about challenging received wisdom, if only for the sake of showing why it is so well received.)

What is it? The intersection of four salad bowls.

I love painting fruit. This is painted in acrylic on stretched canvas. Reflections in silver fascinate me. Especially distorted reflections such as these in the dish. It’s as if there is another strange universed one is looking into. See more of Freda’s works: / Boats / City / Fractals / Stillife / Figures Freda’s website
