I would like everyones opinion about / 1- what sells- is it a view that makes a serene or emotive statement about the landscape? Is it a visual diorama unique and vibrant, or equally a quaint digital impression of paint strokes or a vector creation in line and tone? or maybe its something else? / lets not be vague here and say its in the eyes of the buyer- lets try and be specific…..can we ? / AND question 2- / How do you gauge the quality of your work in view to its saleability? / might it be about the content, the attention to the digital reproduction, the composition, whether it has a contemporary appeal,......is it just luck to find a buyer, or is it about exposure, in this case internet exposure, or in view of the proposed exhibition coming up, exhibition exposure???? / I would like to hear from the people who have bought work here and the people who have sold something, and everyone elses’ opinion especially those experienced in marketing. / I look forward to our discussion… / xxJiennxx

  • Nothing ground breaking here, however, I thought I’d upload this image as I like the area I took this image in, behind one of Frank Gehry’s buildings alongside the Hudson River – also like the way the elements interact with eachother, from the concrete slabs and glass, incidental vehicle and the two people….

  • Two fly-like Sirrels from the Weganian Empire have just met at a local fair. They thoroughly enjoyed the fair, the food and each other. Now the bigger female, Srees, has decided that she wants the smaler male, Firrr, as her live-bond partner. Well, in the Sirrel society you don´t disagree with the wishes of the females- you might end up as dinner. Made with Apophysis.

  • Sandakan, Sabah/Borneo – late into the evening the local cab drivers discuss the issues of their world. Just using the light from the cafe and moonlight with ASA1600 – hence the grain within the pic, camera held against a window frame to stop movement with a 1/20 sec exposure. You may not know this about me, but I’m an insane Tim Walker fan. If you don’t know who Tim Walker is, I’m afraid we can’t be friends anymore. It is imperative that you seek out his work and drool while uttering three syllable adjectives to describe how wonderful it is. Now that we’re better acquainted, I’d like to draw your eyes to exhibit A: / Tim Walker’s ‘Lisa Cant with 80 White Rabbits’ originally commissioned by Vogue, and published in his book from last year entitled Pictures. And now I’d like to present for you, exhibit B: / The Dotti commercial from this month’s Cosmopolitan Now, I know what you’re thinking – they are nothing alike. Look, in the second one the girl is wearing a hat. Totally different. However, I do not agree with you. In fact, I’d go so far as to say this is a direct copy off of an awesome idea. And unless they have hired Tim Walker to shoot the Dotti commercial and he decided to rehash his own idea (Sorry Tim, but I wouldn’t love you as much anymore), then someone else has forgotten their imagination at the door. I can appreciate a homage to a great talent, I can appreciate that inspiration comes from all around, and I believe that no idea is truly original (that we merely rehash a concoction of our lives experiences). But where is the line? Where do we stop saying “this was inspired by” and start saying “this is a copy of”?

  • A watercolor on paper work. Emotive and intuitive… I am sure that we all feel like this from time to time and a little one that I have wanted to paint for a while now. Happy to have finally had the opportunity.

  • A few weeks ago some of my neighbors “had words.” Nothing physical happened but lives were changed, I’m sure. I can only imagine what would have occurred if one of them HAD taken things to that physical level. This image is piles of layers and paint, a couple of fractals and photoimages. I went over the top with it, but that’s how the day affected me. So instead of letting it sit in my files until I can make it calmer (which isn’t going to happen, since it WASN’T) I’m posting it.

Update 06 December 2009 Important NOTICE / / I want the option of turning off the “share” features on RedBubble. / To say this new feature is annoying is an understatement, especially since it was recently added without my knowledge or agreement. / On another subject: I discovered today a “social bookmarking site for pictures” ..... An extension allows someone to post an image to their account by right clicking on it.” / / At the bottom of the page there is a tab which asks / “Do you have any questions, bug reports or wishes?” / So, I clicked on that and reported my request for my images to be removed. Any tips on preventing this? I thought we had right/click protection on this site! / / Occasionally, depending upon how busy I am, I search for myself on the internet using various search engines available. It is always interesting to see what appears, what is unrelated to me, and what is attached to my name, and I have learned to be wary and careful of which websites to open, for there are some in other countries which actually are more like land mines raising all manner of red flags with my computer security software. / / Even so, I conducted a search today, a rather extensive search using my name and certain keywords. And I discovered this webpage with my image, along with many other photographers and artists. I can tell you I am very upset that so many people on the internet so blatantly ignore my copyright notice. This member does not have my permission to reproduce my image in their collection of “Favourites”. It is outrageous that we have no control over our imagery and how it is copy/pasted, downloaded/shared ….... / / You may wish to have a look at this webpage to see if your images are here as well. Some I recognise from artists here on RedBubble and some look very familiar. I am sending a request for the website to delete and immediately remove my copyrighted work/s from their site. It does not matter to me that this person links my image back to my RedBubble site, I do not like the share feature and seeing my imagery on another website without my prior written authorization. As a member of RedBubble we should have the option of whether or not we wish to share our content. / / You may open this link to view the images this person has “collected” and gleaned from the internet. / vi.sualize.us / / Here is the code for the my image, which is completely different from my own image, found in the properties of the “shared” image. / http://img1.visualizeus.com/thumbs/09/04/02/beach,beauty,ocean,sea,torrent-c2ee3bfa23547fb2d111613f9d9b23bf_h.jpg / / As clearly stated on the front page of my portfolio:* / I own full and exclusive copyrights on all my photographs, digital art and images on this website and they are protected under International Copyright laws.
