so, um… can somebody remind me again as to why somebody would hate somebody else on the basis of skin (or in this case, feather) color? (inspired by James Victore and Barbara Kruger, two of my favorite graphic designers!)
WARNING: Viewer Discretion Strongly Adviced! This is my first wake-up call in my domestic Violence series. On my old art account I created this series and got quite attention for my work. But what is my goal with that? To manifest with my art that world peace starts at home and you can only end Domestiv Violence when you face the issue and cannot look away from this rapidly growing problem. Could you look away from this artwork? Does this completely caught your attention? It should since those are worlds millions of people hear right now in this very moment and even worse. Did you know: - Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime - The most rapid growth in domestic relations caseloads is occurring in domestic violence filings. Between 1993 and 1995, 18 of 32 states with three year filing figures reported an increase of 20 percent or more. - In a national survey of more than 6,000 American families, 50 percent of the men who frequently assaulted their wives also frequently abused their children. Slightly more than half of female victims of intimate violence live in households with children under age 12. Studies suggest that between 3.3 – 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually. And this is not even the tip of the Iceberg, those are just a few noted statistics, but it is fact that this is not even the half of all “happening” cases around the world. What drove me to make this series? A lot. Someone very close and myself come out of violent families. My life long I have been treated like the sun wouldn’t shine for me too. Years long I have been hid from reality and locked in darkness, I lost my childhood and my youth through domestic violence and I can say that today strong like a rock. My life today is a lot better, my wife gives me the love I never had and felt and I give her the same back in my adornment and service. Unfortunately many woman/children/men go through this hell this very moment but the only problem politicians care about is to build up the nuke stock in their rocket facilities. They rather care to invest more money in war and weaponary as to support families, women and children who deserve a chance to live a happy life like our human and religious right tells us. I want to catch your attention with this image to say to you as a brother of this world, that you have the same rights to live as any other person, your gender, your creed or race doesn’t matter since we are all the same human, the same valuable and same unique and under the face of God are we all the same. Our lifetime is important and how we recieve our family, friends and even our neighbours will not be unseen, the generations will copy your behaviour and treat others the same. So…could you look away? I have a major plan with thi series since I would love to expand this as big as I can (even public plans), the next days will crystalize if I can move someones hearts or not. So, if you look right now at this artwork, and got some free time, leave a comment, and tell me how you feel about it. I can’t and won’t look away.
Old Turkish mosques in Skopje, Macedonia. One wall that should remind us that there should not be any walls between different cultures, religions and nations…
It’s not every day you find prehistoric man staging a protest outside your shop. Give him the job, lady. Maybe he could bake the rock cakes.

Please note that it is signed ‘R.L.S.’ not Arletta. That is because R.L.S. is how I signed my work, for years, due to that I started signing it that way as a teenager when I was in a band and those were the initials of my stage name, which I had intended to change my name to legally later on in life. I’ve fairly recently given that up, but I still slip, sometimes. Inspired by my accidentally having a phrase left over that I had been quoting in response to a blog, really. The blog was a bit intense, about the abuse of men in relationships, and the words were from a person commenting on it. I call this mixed media, digital style, because it is textual art and “oil painting”, too.

When confronted with their bigotry, making unpleasantly sterotypical remarks on people from some “looked down on” group – or discriminating people on that basis – lots of people tend to answer with: You are wrong, some of my best friends are… (Jews, blacks, homos, whatever). Well, then I pity their best friends. A few years ago we were actually discriminated against by some hotel manager in Spain on the basis of sexual orientation. He was really surprised to hear that he was discriminating (and not just following stupid, rigid rules). He used the above-written sentence, and we wondered if his friend(s) would have approved of his treatment of us… “Some of my best friends are… (Homos, Jews, Marsians, etc.)” was featured in the groups / ART ACTION UNION – CREATIVE ACTIVISM / Fabulous T’s and / Outsiders / /

We may have our problems, we’re certainly not perfect, we can’t help it, we’re all just HuMaN after all.
Racism is alive and well the practitioners of this human flaw sometimes willingly and avidly embraced this aberration and try to rationalize first to themselves and then to others and to those they want to discriminate against. Vicious circle of a very stupid race that goes nowhere in the end they die but their children may or may not get caught up in this race. Children can speak any language they learn and speak many times the truth of what they hear from you…ask them what they know and see yourself….how are you doing by them? Racism works both ways with black brown yellow white and biracial racists practitioners….and there are code words subtle implied with a wink wink sometimes. / See more stuff at: hinkiepinkie

We come in all colors of the rainbow, all different yet ALL fellow human beings. We all belong to different groups on basis of gender, skin color, sexual orientation, social class, beliefs, disorders… you name it. Yet we are all individuals who should be taken on the individual basis of our own personalities and what we have to offer and are willing to give others and the world. Don’t let the color of skin, the accent, the gender or sexual orientation of anyone be in the way of getting to know that person, maybe getting to love her or him, but first of all – show RESPECT! “We come in all colors” was featured in the groups / WTF are you wearing?! / ART ACTION UNION – CREATIVE ACTIVISM / True Potential and / ! # 1 ARTISTS OF REDBUBBLE !

This is a photo of me. Me, wearing a suit and tie. Me, wearing a certain hairstyle. Me, with a certain style of facial hair. / My question to you: / Do you discriminate based on a person’s appearance? / Do you consider yourself to be prejudiced? / If I passed you on the street looking like this, would you have negative feelings toward me? / Would you embrace me as one of your own, assuming that I am a “NeoNazi” or some such? / . / . / . / Just something to think about.
