Poem about early friendship, memory, life. It is for my first friend. That first deep friendship is as memorable as one’s first love. Maybe it is one’s first love. / / (The poem is not about Peter O’Sullivan whose obituary I have written also.)

I wanted to capture how humans seek solitude and rediscover their true selves through nature and their connections with their environment. It Is Me
by Shanna S.“And I’de never know what was wrong without the pain./So I go out and allow myself to drown in the rain.”
Poetry is a natural outlet for me and my emotions. It really helps me explore the way I feel and to figure out why I feel that way. I wrote this poem in highschool when I was having trouble figuring out why I felt like everything good in my life seemed to crash down upon me. Turns out I was the one bringing myself down and pushing away anything worth while in my life. That’s basically what this poem was about in a nutshell.
