After some weeks of devoloping this piece in my mind it finally just started to come together. As usual I went at the theme with something different in mind. What are we to say about how the divine eye sees our world or we may see the divine world in comparison to our own. This thought inspired a more surreal feel to the finished product. This work is a combination of a sunset capture of the City of New York skyline and a fractal image created by Apophysis. This weekend I did something very very silly…. / I took my new camera on a jet ski in a plastic container (i.e not waterproof housing) and got some snaps of Port Phillip Bay. We only nearly fell of the jet ski, hmmm…. repeatedly. I hope it was worth it! Thanks to my Jetski driver and all round relaxing company James / Check out joobrien.com.au

Pearl being the angel… This image all started from a photo of a web on a rainy day… The web is upside down, that’s why the drops are looking slightly higher than the threads, I like that it gives them a lighter quality… Model by mjranum (deviantart)

This piece is the second in my Nautical Series—“the ocean calls” being the first. This is a digital painting done with a Wacom Intuos3 tablet. I used Corel Painter for this entire piece. The bigger this piece gets the more impressionistic it becomes. This was done on purpose. I wanted the ocean’s movement to intertwine with the brush strokes I used. The bigger the print, the better you will be able to see the movement of the strokes and how they correlate to the ocean’s movement. My blog gives step by step instructions on the making of this piece. Blog Website

Inspired by Hokusai’s Great Wave. I have always marvelled how artists created fractals long before there were computers. What visions they must have had (and patience). / This wave happened in Tierazon.

one of my personal favorite, maybe it’s because No.4 was the first piece on which I deliberately put the feel of “texture.” It carries a strong sense of movement that magnifies through the shade, color and geometric effect. Unlike other designs, I applied a horizontal view for this postcard design, and added a white space on the right, just for balance’s sake (the original aspect ratio of No.4 is 1.0). Anyway, enjoy. : ]

O beautiful / for spacious skies / for amber waves of grain . . . . Two and a half million rural children, a fifth of all rural children, live in poverty, compared to 15 percent for children living in metropolitan areas. One in five rural children lived in food insecure households in 2000—food insecurity and hunger are more prevalent in rural America than in the nation as a whole. Since greeting cards are officially available on RB, I decided to let one of my favorite babes join the big pool as well. This piece was created based on the idea of fractal, though I didn’t use any fractal softwares to make it. I will write more details on this later on. By the way, if you want a print of mighty big scale (36”x36” to be exact), it’s availabe on my shop.

The third artwork in the Nautical Series. This digital landscape is a digital painting done in both Corel Painter and Photoshop CS2 with a Wacom Intuos3 tablet. No photo references were used. The blazing sun sets behind a dancing ocean. I was going for a minimalistic look here—the beach, the sunset, a single bird. What more could one ask for? Blog Website
