ARTIST STATEMENT for Light, Time & Facade Exhibition My response to Light, Time and Facade has been to discern and depict metaphorically, multifaceted aspects of one’s being in both mind and matter or existence and universe. The vessel (symbol for being) in light and time, absorbs, reflects, refracts and transmits information to and from the surfaces around. “Reality is a game of illusion, delusion, perception and deception … The trickster (an archetype, a boundary dweller) exists to question, to cause us to question and not accept things blindly.” (Quote by Ellie Crystal). In the light of spirit I reflect that the boundaries that separate us are not as real as they appear, that our personal distinctions are illusory and that we are connected with all in the sea of universal consciousness, a fusion, a melting point. / ................................. / ................................

Technique: Scanned an original drawing image, was digitally colour manipulated in Photoshop and then variables were placed in unit formation. Loch Etive is at the end of Glen Etive (Scottish Gaelic: Gleann Eite), a glen in the Highlands of Scotland. The River Etive rises on the peaks surrounding Rannoch Moor, with several tributary streams coming together at the Kings House Hotel, an old inn on the A82 road at the head of Glen Coe. From the Kings House, the Etive flows for about 18 km, reaching the sea at the sea loch of Loch Etive. At the north end of Glen Etive lie the two mountains known as the shepherds of Etive: Buachaille Etive Mòr and Buachaille Etive Beag. Dunsapie Loch lies within Holyrood Park in Edinburgh. Holyrood Park (also called Queen’s Park, and formerly King’s Park) is a royal park in central Edinburgh, Scotland. It has an array of hills, lochs, glens, ridges, basalt cliffs, and patches of whin (gorse) within its 650-acre area. The park is associated with the royal palace of Holyroodhouse, and was formerly a 12th-century royal hunting estate, although it is now publicly accessible. Arthur’s Seat, the highest point in Edinburgh, is at the centre of the park, with the cliffs of Salisbury Crags to the west. There are three lochs; St Margaret’s Loch, Dunsapie Loch, and Duddingston Loch. The ruined St Anthony’s Chapel stands above St Margaret’s Loch. Queen’s Drive is the main route through the Park. Holyrood Park is located to the south-east of the Old Town, at the edge of the city centre. Abbeyhill is to the north, and Duddingston village to the east. The Scottish Parliament is the devolved national, unicameral legislature of Scotland, located in the Holyrood area of the capital Edinburgh. The Parliament, informally referred to as “Holyrood”, is a democratically elected body comprising 129 members known as Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs). Members are elected for four-year terms under the mixed member proportional representation system. The original Parliament of Scotland (or “Estates of Scotland”) was the national legislature of the independent Kingdom of Scotland, and existed from the early 13th century until the Kingdom of Scotland merged with the Kingdom of England under the Acts of Union 1707 to form the Kingdom of Great Britain. As a consequence, the Parliament of Scotland merged with the Parliament of England to form the Parliament of Great Britain, which sat at Westminster in London. Following a referendum in 1997 in which the Scottish people gave their consent, the current Parliament was established by the Scotland Act 1998, which sets out its powers as a devolved legislature. The Act delineates the legislative competence of the Parliament – the areas in which it can make laws – by explicitly specifying powers that are “reserved” to the Parliament of the United Kingdom: all matters that are not explicitly reserved are automatically the responsibility of the Scottish Parliament.The UK Parliament retains the ability to amend the terms of reference of the Scottish Parliament, / and can extend or reduce the areas in which it can make laws.
