19 February, 2008 It all started with a TV screen shot. I got then inspired to start a series of compositions called The colours of love. This artwork is the first in this series. A photo of a lovely young woman, named Elizabeth. She was gracious to pose for me and 2 other artists for a couple of hours, changing costumes and patiently taking orders as we snapped away. We dressed her in this hat and clothes trying to mimic the look of 40’s or earlier. Placed her in natural light from a window. I shot in raw with my Canon Rebel XT.I added a bit of a grungy golden texture with layers in CS3. I also added a bit of a softening and a vignette to darken the perimeter and keep the focus on the models face and hands.

This one has been sitting unfinished on my PC for a few weeks, I was just not sure what I wanted to do with it until last night when I was reminded of the beautiful song “Autumn Leaves”, originally by Edith Piaf (in French, naturally), but beautiful also in its English translation as below. This was one of my favourite songs to sing when I was a teenager and I have wonderful memories of singing this to the beautiful piano accompaniment played by my cousin Anina. :) This is a mixed media piece in which I digitally combined a roller ball drawing I did for the purpose, with a chalk pastel drawing and photographic textures and brushes.
