The mischievous pixie NiaTa knelt beside the forbidden pool; she had abandoned her duty to trick intruders away from the woods, (or, if she was so inclined, to their deaths) and her incorrigible curiosity had led her to the glittering water. / Her wings fluttered with excitement as she reached out to touch her reflection. The other spirits of the woods whispered among themselves at the disturbance. / Ripples formed and NiaTa withdrew her hand, horrified at what she’d done… I’ve been creating some characters recently for painting inspiration, and I thought I’d draw this pixie character! I wanted to achieve a very speedy and painterly effect (which contrary to how it sounds, is pretty tricky and time consuming if you go into all the details) and though some of the trees seem off to me, I’m pretty happy with it. / Enjoy! =) Tools: Photoshop and Wacom / Time Consumed: Lost track. I believe we’ve all eaten from this tree, at some time or another.. / / Mixture of digital art + several actual photos. / Work time: 4 or 5 hours (using the magnetic lasso tool in CS3 on / and around every tree branch, then cleaning them up with the eraser +blur) very intricate work. Same thing with the hearts.. /

Impressionist, painterly / Two boys doing what they do best in the rain. Originally impressionism was that the colour should be dropped pure on the canvas rather than mixed on the palette. Today, now that we have so many new paints and mediums to work with, while the original concept of impressionism remains the same, styles and techniques have evolved. / My style of Impressionism embraces traditional painting. It is the evolution of impressionism that i am hoping to achieve, from the original traditional techniques of impressionist painting all the way to this modern impressionist digital art which can be stylized and painterly depending on my subject and mood. My work is hand painted digital painting and is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.

Miss Lizzz walking down a path leading from an abandoned quarry near London, Ontario. June 2009. I don’t often do long shots like this as I prefer to have the beautiful women I am lucky enough to capture up close, but the trees framed her very well. At 8:25pm, it was really beyond useful light for hand held amongst all these trees. The sun was now on the horizon and behind clouds. The Path, 2009 was 1/80th sec, ISO 800, f4.0.

... “In the beautiful forest an oasis of dreams / all sorts of creatures inhabit these realms”. – A forest is an area with a high density of trees and filled with creatures… All created in Photoshop CS4&Corel paint shop proX2….love experimenting creating these composite fusions…started with a background layer of the trees then added mist & the sun for a moody atmosphere then the bushes/trees/leaves with my brushes & stock photo of deer & Owl, generally tweaked it – about ten layers in all…such fun wooOOT! view larger 4 detail …finished late last night .. ...savethe wildlife .....
