This is my entry for the Photoshop Creative competition / Digital Mixed Media. Mostly done in Photoshop CS2. A touch of Corel Painter and Apophysis 2.0. This image is composed of digital painting, a few fractals, and several photographs added for texture. I hope you all like it because I’ve been working on it for most of this week :). / This is the first I’ve completed in a new series: The Elijah Series. This image represents the chariot of fire. You can read about it here: 2 Kings 2:7-12. There is so much going on in this image so I’ll help you out: The Chariot driven by some sort of Angelic being is in the center of the image while the horses of fire are at the bottom, very front of the image. The blazing light of Heaven is in the very back. Basically, the sky has opened up and the Chariot of Fire is coming down from Heaven to separate Elisha and Elijah. The whirlwind that takes Elijah up into Heaven will be the next image I do in this series. Thank you for looking!

Medium: Digital / Size: 9.2” x 5.2” / Description: Completed in 2007 by digitally colouring ink drawings of 2 tripods, each taking 3 hours to pen. Based on the brilliant novel War of the Worlds by H G Wells. I wanted to really design the tripod in a different way to what had been done before. I wanted to show that the machines themselves were originally designed by the martians to use on their own dusty home world, hence the desert inspired hoods. Also, after extensive reading of the books, I devised my own interpretation of the legs and drew up sliding disk mechanisms that would allow the tripod a graceful movement. I designed them with my own back story, in that the Martian’s had surveyed our planet since the dinosaurs and modeled their walkers on the giant lizards to strike fear into our minds. I was a long process, but it wanted to do it justice. In fact, the tripod design I have concocted is still a work in progress and I will devote more time to their workings. Medium: Digital / Size: 5” x 7” / Description: Created in a trail version of Photoshop, June 2009, this piece started out as an acrylic painting on textured canvas paper. I felt I had painted myself into a corner with this piece, so I transferred it to the computer to finish it. The Witch King came about, not from Tolkien’s creation of the same name, but more on the idea of a Burrow Wrights, Liches and Psychopomps. Whilst researching another painting, I found numerous articles on these types of ghostly beings and decided to create a character based loosely around these archetypes of the fantasy genre. Ghosts, to me, represent a manifestation of the fear of the unknown, the almost unexplainable. Although I don’t personally believe in the existence of such entities, my non-belief doesn’t stop me from illustrating them. Then i talked with Bil and he mentioned me and Shoaib in the same sentence so I knew it was time to give my Brotha his due. / . / I am so pleased you are in my life Shoaib, as you remind me sometimes how GOOD LIFE KEEPS GETTING. you are an expanded part of our evolution. So many younger people I meet here are eons past where I was at their age. I like this fact, I know that life keeps getting better and better and more in tuned.
