  So it’s day two here at the Diesel on Decks Dome and things are electric. The crowd is awaiting in anticipation for the next instalment…

  So it’s day two here at the Diesel on Decks Dome and things are electric. The crowd is awaiting in anticipation for the next instalment of the Painted Diesel – wondering can he match this digital version of Diesel on Decks > / - and now, we cross live to Diesel, down by the action… Yes Hi Diesel, it’s Diesel here and wow, things are screaming along. The Acrylics have been warming up for a while now, while the Canvas has been deep in serious thought…not sure how things went on in earlier conversation, but if you missed the previous round of Painting Diesel On Decks, you can view it HERE - Wait, Diesel, I’m getting word that they are about to start Painting again – yes, the Acrylics are going head to head with Canvas right now – HERE WE GO! OOH… YES… WOW! OH WHAT A DAY! —-—-—-— Here we can see the HIGHLIGHTS of day two, and if I must say so myself, there was some serious focus, and steady hands put into this effort. Here is Diesel taking hold of the brush and working with the extra ‘shading’ layers on ‘Diesel’. Diesel was aiming to stick with just painting ‘Diesel’ but he boldly chose to venture out and paint the speakers early…a tactic that seemed to pay off. Working heavily with the ‘shading’: He applies it in great detail and almost perfect precision. Amazing. From recent interviews we learned that he decided not to join the colours as the Thick Black Outline would cover up that. Simply breathe-taking excuse. Ground Zero was left in quite a state for day 2. Oooh and the final outcome, not quite GOLD-worthy yet, but in time I am sure it will resonate beautifully with the judges. We asked Diesel what he thought of the painting so far… Well that about wraps up day 2’s highlights, plenty of action down here, back to you in the studio. Thanks Diesel, I am sure within the next few days he will be able to complete this journey and receive a GOLD for his work…he’s got my vote.   Hi All! It has been a busy couple of days for me, I have been ‘slaving’ over a hot ‘cpu’ for hours to get the finishing touches done to my new website – DieselLaws.com – and it’s finally complete!   This journal was inspired by Natalie Tyler’s post —-— 8 months ago I was a soul searching dreamer trying to answer a mystery that had plagued me for years – How can I link my love for ART, MUSIC and FASHION together without any University or Tafe degree? The question that seemed impossible to answer intrigued me so much that i set out to conquer it. Today, I can finally say I am on solid ground and walking towards that reality. Music was always in my heart, and at the best of times I would be humming a new rhythm along to anything. I started making music with very mixed results, but I knew that one day, the melodies I crafted would be heard and loved by many. After years of creating the sound that is today known as Fixd, I realised that Art was vital to complete the musical experience. Logo’s, CD Covers, Websites and Banners all needed to be imagined and created to spread the sound further. So, I began to create the Art needed to fit within the various themes of the musical paths. Inspired by the music and with no professional training, I honed my skills by experimenting in Paint Shop Pro (many years ago) and years later that led to Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator. While the music and art were growing comparatively, I still was not completely satisfied with fashion being left behind, leaving my works limited to the internet realm. For some time I was lost in a world where satisfaction was only online, and in that moment I craved something to break that mould. After accidentally stumbling upon Redbubble some time later (8 months ago) I quickly merged my love for music and art with the fashion world. My first shirt design purchase being the following - / / I quickly realised the power of Redbubble and its platform for the creative soul. I was continually inspired by the multitude of amazing designers throughout the ‘bub’ and continually added work to my favourites list. This constant barrage of new and unique designs from all over the world through the portal of Redbubble pushed my designs to limits I never thought possible in such a short amount of time. It taught me lessons of Action vs Complacency, Vision vs Fear and Creativity vs Negativity. Now, with Music, Art and Fashion strongly interlaced, I can step forth each day with a confident stride knowing that I followed my dreams, and plan to inspire others to do the same. So if you happen to stumble upon Fixd Music or the Diesel Laws brand , realise that it all came from constant persistence of one dream, a passion and inspiration from many elements of life. 8 months ago, the Diesel Laws Brand was 3 words on a piece of paper, a hope, a dream of things to come.   Over the last couple of weeks I have had direct contact from fans and friends asking me personally if I could give them any tips on start…

  Over the last couple of weeks I have had direct contact from fans and friends asking me personally if I could give them any tips on starting and becoming successful in design. While I did enjoy giving them tips and links to various groups that could also help them I also realised that so many people could benefit from these tips. Before I give you my top 3 tips, remember that success is defined individually, and there is never just one way to get ‘there’. TIP 1: CONSTANT ACTIVITY / Whether you are a new designer or have been designing for years I am assuming that you would have a basic idea that constantly working at one thing will most likely get you there faster, or at least equip you with a lot of knowledge in that field. For the last 10 months I have been working on the Diesel Laws brand every single day. Some days I may only work on one design or one email to a potential client…but at least I stay involved. It’s that constant activity that inspires and pushes me further everyday. FOR YOURSELF: Try and do AT LEAST ONE of these things EVERY DAY - / +Create a new design / +Talk to people about your designs / +Create a banner, icon, logo or webpage for your designs / +Send an email with a link to your designs / +Research designing / +Learn from tutorials / +Talk to a designer TIP 2: LEARN FROM OTHERS / While this may seem like a simple tip, it is often overlooked! Nearly every day I scan the web for new tutorials, competitions, inspiration and artists to talk to. I am always amazed at the quality of work that is out there, and it quickly makes me want to design something fresh! Here are some great websites to get you started- / http://vector.tutsplus.com/ / http://abduzeedo.com/ / http://psd.tutsplus.com/ / http://colorburned.com/ / +http://redbubble.com TIP 3: BELIEVE YOU CAN ACHIEVE / The biggest tackle I had in the early days was convincing myself that I could become a great designer. Especially after seeing all those other amazing artists! But I soon realised that they were once at the start…and they too felt like it was a big task to believe what they could achieve. You can ask any of your family and friends about your artwork and you will always get a unique response. This is because their view of art is…well….THEIR view. / THE TRUTH: There will ALWAYS be SOMEONE that loves what you are doing and there will always be someone that HATES what you are doing. Learn to let go of what others think and in doing so it may relive the pressure you have on yourself. Don’t rush your way to believing in yourself, sometimes the designs will speak for themselves. You may not know this…but not everything I create goes up for sale or even for view…because sometimes no matter how hard I work on a design, it may just miss that mark I have set.
