And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? -Shakespeare Every year sealers bludgeon seals with clubs and “hakapiks” (clubs with a metal hook on the end), drag conscious seals across the ice floes with boat hooks, and toss dead and dying animals into heaps and leave their carcasses to rot because there is no market for their meat. Seals are also shot, but bludgeoning is preferred, because pelt buyers deduct money for every bullet hole in a seal’s skin. Veterinarians who studied a past hunt concluded that the hunters failed to comply with Canada’s basic animal welfare standards and that 42 percent of the seals appeared to have been skinned alive. Despite Canada’s ‘new and improved’ methods being implemented this year, sealers are still slaughtering these pups in the same way they have for previous years. It’s unconscionable. My seven year old son, Josiathe drew this. This is his interpretation of how Jesus died on the cross. Try not to be offended if you are a christian. This is innocent. Apparently, there was some confusion about whether Polonius was dying or not when Shakespeare was writing “Hamlet.” To clarify, he wrote this line for the audience and the stage directions for the actors.

I found these on a headstone in the churchyard of St Teilo’s, Llantillio Pertholey, Monmouthshire. One of my most viewed pictures on Flickr. It is a fave of mine too. Amazing how these plants decay when left undisturbed.

There was a bit of experimentation going on in this one for me. Watercolor, charcoal, colored pencil, pencil, marker, ink, and a wonderful photo of my not so handsome face were used to pull this thing together. Quite surprisingly, I don’t hate it. I know, I know…me not hating something that I’ve done is no doubt the first sign of the coming apocalypse. I’m sorry that a pathetic self portrait by a nobody you’ve never met had to bring forth armageddon, but I guess that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. Or I suppose the way the earth crumbles…as the case may be.

this is spanish moss…....... it always reminds me of the thorns on the crown of Jesus .. captured in my yard.. fort Myers, Florida / cropped and sharpened to bring out the shadows and bokeh “Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
