Moisture on the rose petals in my garden
Iris with Raindrops
I am still a little bit uncomfortable with black and white. I have a friend who told me, every time you look at a scene, try to picture it in black and white or color… You might be surprised. I’ve only found a couple of scenes that I actually switched my camera over to black and white mode for, but I’ve found things here and there that just “work” in black and white. This is one of those that was originally in color but using a filtered transition to black and white ‘works’ for me. What do you think?

Dew on grass around a farm in Scotland after a chilly morning
Taken with my new Canon Digital Rebel XSi and 75-300mm telephoto lens / I was able to snap a dew photos of the morning dew just before the sun went behind the clouds for the day. What can I say? I’m addicted to bokeh!
One of my backyard flowers.
Yet another image in the series of Dreamcatchers…a set of photographs taken on a very misty and foggy Colorado morning, with the dewdrops catching the first gleams of the sunrise. I can’t promise the set is done, and I know three is a complete kind of number…but this little gem was in hiding long enough. There are three others in the series: Prose, Meteor and Infinity. Please see my Etsy listing for this image – and purchase a pearlescent (metallic) print of this image – and the others in the Dreamcatcher series!

Camellia, the camellias, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Theaceae. They are native to eastern and southern Asia, from the Himalaya east to Japan and Indonesia. There are 100–250 described species, with some controversy over the exact number. The genus was named by Linnaeus after the Jesuit botanist Georg Joseph Kamel from Brno, who worked on the Philippines. This genus is famous throughout East Asia; camellias are known as cháhuā in Chinese, as tsubaki in Japanese, and as dongbaek-kkot in Korean.

Sunday morning, 28th June, saw the valley below our house filled with mist. It ebbed and flowed for an hour or so until the rising sun warmed it and it slowly dispersed. All the leaves and flowers were soaked from the saturated air, the suspended droplets on these elderberries reminding me of Lyn and Lisa’s amazing shots.
