You best believe it honey… I love you so damn much! / Just hang on; the time for us to embrace, / Is just around the corner; / Then I’ll hold you for a while. / For you, my love… I’ll do anything! Big plans are still to be put in place; / Trust me; I don’t say this to just anyone. / For you, my love… I’ll do anything! We will have our days, my love; / Filled with love, laughter, tears and pain. / Patience, peace and silent understanding will forever remain. / For you, my love… I’ll do anything! You’re all I care about in this crazy world, that’ll never change! / You mean so much to me. / For you, my love… I’ll do anything! I’ve got to say what I feel, otherwise I’ll burst! / I can’t help myself, you fill me up ‘till I overflow. / For you, my love… I’ll do anything! I need to keep you grounded for a while, / I don’t want you flitting away; / Before I have a chance to embrace and hold you, forever more! / For you, my love… I’ll do anything! Soon you’ll be flying, my love, but for now; / You need to stop and stand still. / Take a deep breath and smile my baby, / For you, my love… I’ll do anything! For you, my love… I’ll do anything!

Someday Someday… on a clear, still, moonlit night; / To the beach, is where we’ll go. / With a blanket and hot chocolate already packed; / Walk, hand in hand, on soft, warm sand; / Down to the water’s edge, where we’ll dance awhile; / Oh, to hold you close and whisper in your ear; / Those three words you’ve longed to hear. / Brush aside the hair which hides your face; / See a smile grow and laughter kiss your lips; / Then sit with you ‘til dawn‘s early light; / Your hand in my left, hot chocolate in my right. / Precious moments, dreams and memories; / Someday… with you, I want to share.

Loki likes to snuggle with his head on my shoulder just under my jaw. When he was itty bitty, this was no problem. He has gotten longer and heavier, and holding him up like that gets the biceps complaining after 20 minutes. Did I mention how much he likes to snuggle? Since keeping his activity level as low as possible is one of the key things to let the leg finish healing and stopping the seroma from building up (it’s due to irritation of the tissues because of the scarring. It should stop… sooner or later) I had to come up with a way to keep him content and still. So, I rummaged through my trunk of fabric, found a rectangle of panne velvet, and made a ‘kitten sling’ to wear. He comes up for his snuggle, I pull one of the sides of the sling up and over him, and he rests there for 20 mins to an hour, leaving my hands free, and able to get things done. Snuggle Purrrrrrr

image The day at the remote location had quickly progressed into an unspoken understanding; the car had been parked at a distance perhaps to keep civilization at bay. Her appetite for him was a force she was still reckoning with… It was growing dark, she had been brutal, they didn’t even mention the thought of returning home. There was a savage earthly expectation that hung in the air. The fire gave off an amber hue keeping the blue gray that was descending at bay. She had noticed the tears fall from his face, not the tears of a coward, tears of release and acceptance. Her hands plunged into the water that had been warmed – perfect. Carrying the large pot over to him she removed the blanket he was wearing and plucked the debris from his back, a small stone had lodged just beneath the skin, gently she teased it out with her finger nail. The cold air embraced his back, he tried not to shudder. The warm wet cloth slopped onto his skin, the last light left and as she washed him he smiled…they were staying the night. NOTE: This was originally published on my WordPress blog, but I wanted to share it here as well. Blessings, all, & Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating it today! :) OK. Maybe I’m being a bit cliche here writing about Thanksgiving the night before Thanksgiving, but it is fitting, & why not write about something when it’s fitting to do so, even if it is cliche? First of all…. H A P P Y T H A N K S G I V I N G ! to all celebrating it today. I know some expatriate Canadians who are celebrating it whereever they are, and I know some people who are not Canadian who are celebrating with us. Thanksgiving is one of those universal holidays that doesn’t need anyone to be of a certain nationality or culture or background or anything. Anyone can celebrate Thanksgiving, & it’s a very good thing. Second of all…. / Thankfulness is an excellent thing, and should always be part of our lives. There is always something to be thankful for, even if it’s not evident right away. I Thesselonians 5:16-18 says “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (NKJV) That is the best known & most oft quoted passage about always being thankful, always rejoicing, & always praying. These are the will of God, & so they must be done. I do admit that I have not always done these, but I do try to live with this as my byword. Not only do I know from personal experience how much better things are when I obey & have this as my attitude, but, as I said, it is a form of obedience to God, & something God tells us to do. They is written as commands – there’s nothing like “Oh, maybe you should….”, or “What if you….?” No, they’re definitely something we’re being told to do, & I am determined to obey. “To obey is better than sacrifice,” as Keith Green sang. God wants our availabilty & our obedience. Yes, sometimes sacrifice is asked for, but when it comes right down to it, what good is sacrifice if it’s not done with a willing, available heart or in obedience to God? Excitedly, I went looking on Bible Gateway this evening for a general “in everything give thanks” lookup, in The Message version, & found two passages specific to this phrase. I Timothy 4:1-5 – “The Spirit makes it clear that as time goes on, some are going to give up on the faith and chase after demonic illusions put forth by professional liars. These liars have lied so well and for so long that they’ve lost their capacity for truth. They will tell you not to get married. They’ll tell you not to eat this or that food—perfectly good food God created to be eaten heartily and with thanksgiving by believers who know better! Everything God created is good, and to be received with thanks. Nothing is to be sneered at and thrown out. God’s Word and our prayers make every item in creation holy.” Psalm 111 / Hallelujah! I give thanks to God with everything I’ve got— / Wherever good people gather, and in the congregation. / God’s works are so great, worth / A lifetime of study—endless enjoyment! / Splendor and beauty mark his craft; / His generosity never gives out. / His miracles are his memorial— / This God of Grace, this God of Love. / He gave food to those who fear him, / He remembered to keep his ancient promise. / He proved to his people that he could do what he said: / Hand them the nations on a platter—a gift! / He manufactures truth and justice; / All his products are guaranteed to last— / Never out-of-date, never obsolete, rust-proof. / All that he makes and does is honest and true: / He paid the ransom for his people, / He ordered his Covenant kept forever. / He’s so personal and holy, worthy of our respect. / The good life begins in the fear of God— / Do that and you’ll know the blessing of God. / His Hallelujah lasts forever! Be thankful! With everything I’ve got, I’m determined to be thankful. In all I do, I am to be thankful, & will be so! Or at least that is my determination. “Everything God created is good, and to be received with thanks. Nothing is to be sneered at and thrown out. God’s Word and our prayers make every item in creation holy.” “Hallelujah! I give thanks to God with everything I’ve got – Wherever good people gather, and in the congregation.” I’ve never actually done a thankfulness experiment of any kind, although I am tempted at times, but I can look back on my life & see times when things were better in my life just because I was thankful. The situations themselves may not have been all that great, but my attitude was good, and that really does make all the difference. For example, my job. I don’t really like the work itself, and I do not want to stay there for too much longer. However, what really helps me a lot is looking at the positives and thanking God for them. Whenever I get upset and am tempted to go on a spoiled lil’ brat princess rant & rave, He always reminds me of what I have to be grateful for at work. I have really great co-workers, especially the one with whom I work day-in-day-out. It’s full-time work & came when I needed it the most, close to the end of an awful year when I was in the lowest point of my life financially & in a few other ways. It’s a job that is better than other things. It’s close to work; so no driving. HUGE savings on gas there! I meet interesting people through it. The regulars are pretty good, funny people who make it easy to serve them. There are some other things, but that’s enough of a list of positives to buoy my spirits, if I were down. I’m tempted at times to complain & to look on the negative, but I can’t stand it when I do it. I hate getting into a pity party, but it’s far too easy to do sometimes. I’m of a naturally up-&-down personality that finds it easy to get down-in-the-dumps – except for when I’m out in nature. Then, only an upsetting happening can bring me down. Otherwise, I’m right in my element & I’m never down! God always brings things to mind that I can’t help but be thankful for. If I give in to those happy thoughts, I pick up pretty quickly. I’m not saying that thankfulness is to be used as a pick-me-up, although it does work that way, &, yes, I do use it that way sometimes. Perhaps that’s part of why God commands us to be give thanks in all things & to rejoice always. I firmly believe that is a possible reason. God knows how easily it is for the devil to use the doldrums to bring us down & to get our focus off God. When we are thankful – & this, I KNOW, is the main reason – our focus is on God, & not on ourselves or on anything else. We look to the face of Jesus & to what He’s done for us, & for how we’ve been blessed when we are thankful. We recognise the source of all that is good & holy & that has been provided for us – sometimes to excess – & worship Him. The true meaning of Thanksgiving & of being thankful is to worship God. It just hit me as I’ve been writing this, & what a revelation it is! This gives me the greatest incentive of all to give thanks in everything, to pray without ceasing, to rejoice always, to worship God with everything I’ve got, to receive everything from God with thanks, & to remember that “God’s Word and our prayers make every item in creation holy.”
