Black and white version of Mramba, to me this has a whole different level of intensity. Which version do you like? Captive animal. / / / / The future of African predators is in peril. It is estimated that only 10,000-15,000 free-roaming African lions remain, down from 50,000 a decade ago. African lions are now listed as Endangered (West African subspecies) and Vulnerable (East and Southern African subspecies) by the World Conservation Union and are on Appendix II of the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) list. African lions are in danger of disappearing altogether due to disease (FIV, bovine tuberculosis, canine distemper) and habitat encroachment. Today’s modern world subjects lions and other wildlife to many dangers. Mankind constantly seizes more and more of the remaining wild areas of Africa, forcing lions onto smaller and smaller parcels of land. Large-scale developments destroy the lion’s natural habitat. In areas inhabited by livestock, lions are frequently shot, snared or poisoned. And sadly, the hunting of these amazing animals for “sport,” for man’s pleasure, is still encouraged as a revenue producing industry by many African governments. African predators simply will not survive unless they are protected. 100% of proceeds from any sales of this image will be donated to the Virginia Zoo

There are a myriad of opinions what this bird might be. I don’t know…I just know it was a beautiful animal that begged to be photographed. / Photographed at the Detroit Zoo. FEATURED: / - All That Is Nature —-—-—-—- Nikon D90 / Sigma 70-200 2.8

Downtown Detroit was once the entertainment center for a busy metropolis. Grand Circus Park was a hub for the once-thriving thriving entertainment industry and had a magnificent theater that shared the Grand Circus name. Now, Grand Circus Park is just another seldom used stop along the People Mover circuit and the Grand Circus Theater’s dangling marquee serves as an illustration of the narcolepsy that envelopes this once vital downtown. There is an ongoing effort to preserve some of the theaters. The Fox Theater is the only Detroit venue that has been renovated so far and is not viewable from DPM. The unique Art Deco terra cotta facade of National Burlesque has graced Detroit since 1911 and has the next best chance of survival.
Just when the Don is thinkin’ that everything is going his way, he turns and Oops,... That’s going to put a krink in his day,... to be sure… / Acrylic on illustration board. I did this about 5 years ago for a book that didn’t get published, so all the rights went back to me. Hope you dig it. / 8.5×10

I captured this shot in the summer of 96’. A friend and I were walking around Detroit and came across two people waiting for a bus along Woodward Ave. I set up my tripod and snapped the shot.

The Scott Memorial Fountain (Belle Isle, Detroit, Michigan), designed by the late Cass Gilbert, is a large and appealing classic monument in white marble. The diameter of the entire fountain, with its central bowl, its pools, and wide base, is 510 feet—that of the main part, 112 feet. A central spray that rises 125 feet into the air is supplemented by 108 others, the waters of which form part of the design of the monument. —-—-—-—-— Nikon D90 / Sigma 70-200 2.8 / Post Production: PS Elements 7, Qtpfsgui
