Hosier Lane in Melbourne, Australia. A result of 9 images (3 HDR’s) done in Photomatix. Merged the HDR’s in photoshop using automate > Photomerge. Took the photos quick as it was around midnight and i was afraid of being beaten up. This work has been featured in the my Neighbourhood group and has had over 500 views. I love hornets, I don’t like being around them but I’ve always thought that there are much worse jobs if you have to be reincarnated as an insect. / Nobody messes with a hornet. I was thinking of the Book of Kells when I got the idea for this. I worked for about a month burying small details in it so it’d be a decent conversation piece. Image copyright © 2008 Simon Deevy. Second part of the piece mentioned on my last piece. There were 3 of these in total but I’ll leave out the third… and yes, the competition is over, and no this project didn’t get anywhere, but loved making it none the less. I may… post the whole thing… someday… maybe… or not continues to mumble incessantly

I have no idea of the breed of duck this is, that doesn’t matter too much but I just had to take the shot. She is a beautiful colourful thing which makes me think she is a he. Her feathers are so detailed and she has a lovely reflection following her around. And on top of all this it looks like she is swimming on a lake of mercury. This was taken in a local open space area near to where I live. It was in Whitewebbs Woods near Enfield, England I have been told a few times now and thanks to those people, they are called Mandarin Ducks.
