  • Creative / I created this image to remind us of the consequences of our actions if we continue to take our precious environment for granted. The location chosen is Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, a city free from catastrophic disaster. That is until Mother Nature turns back on us. We can keep running from what we have done but this is infinite future chaos! Thanks to Rikki & Jess for being models. You can see the before and after shots here Technical / The background was shot in 3 sections and stitched together in Photoshop CS3. Various parts from extra shots were used i.e. The Seven sign and text from another shot I took. I also cloned out people and objects as well as added elements to create this scene. The background, clouds, Rikki and Jess were shot separately on an old but trusty Canon 10D in RAW mode. Other images were sourced online and manipulated beyond original recognition. Once I had all the elements I needed I composited it all together in Photoshop CS3. I had to create some elements such as texture, debris, snapped cables and smoke from scratch using the good old airbrush and pen tools with various brushes all made easier with a A4 Wacom tablet but found that the mouse was sometimes better for other tasks. A lot of masking, deep etching, cloning, dodging and burning went into making this image what it is. Once complete I colour graded it to give it a real sense of drama and darkness.

  • We're In This Together
    by Billmund

    US$4.28–US$114.00

Inspired by NIN, originally a mock NIN gig poster, but with the logos and text removed. Medium: Indian ink + Photoshop CS2

  • You’ll see from the graphic that I’m generally implying the sorry fact that in the future our neurons will be so filled with war, hatred, dis-ease, fear, greed, vanity, and vapid, banal nonsense that our super skinny bodies will have one short arm to hold our brain-tumour inducing mobiles up to our rotten Apple infested heads, while our eyes bleed having never spent one second away from a flickering screen, our chest cavities will be stuffed with money since interest rates have plummeted so low that keeping cash in a bank devalues it, all the while wielding a shotgun to protect ourselves from everyone else who are all exactly like us. It looks like this in my head when I close my eyes at night.

  • i am part of all that i have met, / yet all experience is an arch wherethro / gleans that untravelled world, / whose margins fade / forever and forever when i move. / excerpt from ‘Ulysses’ – Lord Alfred Tennyson

  • Tsunami
    by Kathie Nichols

    US$4.28–US$114.00

“The warning came too late…..no place to hide. We were down by the beach taking happy holiday snaps when the ocean started to recede. It took me a moment or two to realise what was about to happen. Everyone started to panic…..I could hardly hold a thought in my head with the sound of my heart beating and the adrenalin pumping through my veins. Then I remembered the cave we discovered at the end of the beach yesterday. That would be our only hope as we started to run. As we entered the cave I took one last look as the Tsunami hit….” Macro photograph taken from a palm tree, overcast day, camera set on aperture priority. Macro photography of bark, rocks and flowers are my passion. Always looking for that special ‘something’ thats a little bit different. Hope you enjoy my story and photograph!

  • Renewal

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Bushfire-ravaged forest in the Victorian High Country … the regrowth is flourishing, but the overall feeling is still one of loss.

  • Weekend T-Shirt Challenge – Agent Provocateur / Theme: Your vision of the future Myopia is an eye condition also called near- or short-sightedness. Those with myopia see nearby objects clearly but distant objects appear blurred. Sorry to be all doom and gloom, but I see myopia as a metaphor for the way we human animals see with little future foresight. When we look to science and it becomes so big and powerful that we see it first over nature as our path forward, then we begin to badly play at being gods. Then our future becomes most uncertain. Even one of greatest scientists Einstein conceded that humans needed a whole radically new form of thinking if we are to move forward and survive. And I tend to agree. The heart holds the capacity for compassion, nurturing and love. And we always look outside of ourselves. Pack your bags…the end is neigh!

“We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect. / / Aldo Leopold (1886-1948) / / / / Some other groups you may find of interest as well: DaDa Land / Boolean Art / Human and Nature / Fantasy Art / Light and Reflections

  • Stolen Treasures
    by StacyLee

    US$4.70–US$125.40

This is another image on emotional healing. This is the 10th image in the “Woodland” series. Photomanipulation, Digital Painting, Photoshop CS2. There are people in life that are takers and destroyers. They strive off the destruction and misfortune of others. This image counteracts those people. The poem reads: And All that you’ve stolen / My God will return to me / all it takes is a whisper / not even a scream / For there is rest for the weary / in the garden by the lamb / there, is where I sleep

  • Tiamat
    by Sophie Shapiro

    US$4.28–US$114.00

In Mesopotamian myth, life arose from the mingling of Apsu, the sweet waters on which the earth floated, and the salt waters, personified by the chaos – goddess Tiamat who gave birth to all things and whose destruction led to the organized world. The sea is a maternal image and implies transformation and rebirth. It is also a symbol of infinite wisdom, and in psychology, of the unconscious. / Wax, acrylics, pigment and metallic leaf

  • BIG HOUSE, LITTLE HOUSE
    by JaneAParis

I saw the man and woman take a big box of Christmas ornaments outside and throw them in a mud puddle. They were just totally mishandling …

Dreams I believe are very powerful. They usually reflect events in your life; past, present, or future. I believe this dream represents the lack of control I have had over my life’s events, relationships, and my health due to political abuse and people who insist that I have no rights or power forever. And who also insist that it is alright to abuse me forever. Beautiful belongings mean nothing if there is no place for them that is safe or wanted. If there is no security in life, then it does not matter if the house is big or small, in fact being homeless becomes attractive, because you no longer have to deal with being unwanted or disrespected in regard to a relationship. And to a certain extent you no longer have to deal with having no control, choice, or power.
