  • first i thought about getting a hotel room for that shooting, but the only one i liked was in the hilton, and unfortunaly they wanted 400€ for for a night, and there was no way like renting it for an hour or two (and the be honest, with 400 bucks i will buy a new lens, or a decent scanner, or a light meter, or other creepy stuff ^^) / So i decided to go over and ask my neigbouhr I i could use her rooms for a small shooting :) / And it worked, it was the first shooting with my new medium format camera.. damm! i messed it up pretty much, but the model is a good friend of mine so we have a laugh about the mess (and some digital pictures as compensation) Thursday the colour negativ film will be developed, and this evening i will develop the black&white film on my own (and hope i will get acess to a scanner this week). But back to this photograph ;) And for anyone who is thinking about buying it 60% of the money will go straight to lilli, the model.

  • Ive never tried something like this before. Never an artwork emotionally so intense. Would love to thank sandra baraci for the wonderful collab. She has been painting the stunning image of `tracie76 portrait for a while now, which she abandoned in the middle. I really wanted to complete it in my form, and I did. / She says she found the motivation back again to finish the canvas, which is an honour . Thankyou both of you for the wonderful experience.

  • The need to escape the fetters that bind us. We all want freedom or do we? Are any of us really free? By popular choice, I thought I should upload this as a separate image.

  • A Painting by : Shree & Ami(my wife) / Wonderful Words by : Sally Omar Well this is a moment of a poor family waiting desperately together for their father who has still not returned after whole days work, where one kid is elder sister and standing behind another is younger son waiting and being impatient about their fathers uncertain returning issue back to their house. I specifically wanted to show their love, bond, respect, intimacy, curiocity, closeness, affection, feeling of insecurity, fear and a sense of worriedness, impatience and all sorts of wieard thoughts going on specially in the mind of the mother who desperately wants her husband to return back to home soon as its already too late and as both the children are hungry along with her, all of them waiting for their dad to acompany them at whatever food they have left with. Being mother of two little kids she cannot cry or show her sense of worry infront of kids but still she is infact so upset, so tensed and so curious for finding the reasons about not returning back of her husband till so late which she reflects throught her eyes and facial expressions along with managing her kids by giving them assurance that he will comeback soon. My wife Ami helped me a lot specially for bringing those waiting expressions on the face for which i will always be grateful to her unmatched artistic skills. / All the artwork is given a sepia tone with charcoal to show the feel of my theme desperate – await, which i think goes well with the moment of impatience…enjoy. And lastly a special thanks to Sally who did a marvellous job within no time giving a touch of liveliness to these waiting family with her wonderful words. • When hard times hit, you have to pray for a breakthrough. This image is my prayer for a breakthrough and perhaps it will become your prayer, too. Thank you Ruthie for your encouragement. Though the fig tree may not blossom, / Nor fruit be on the vines; / Though the labor of the olive may fail, / And the fields yield no food; / Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, / And there be no herd in the stalls— / Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, / I will joy in the God of my salvation. / -Habakkuk 3:17-18 Digital Mixed Media

  • After I demonstrated a few wave painting techniques, I later thought to join them up into a painting! A Spontaneous watercolour! Watercolour 14” x 10” on Bockingford rough 140lb. So far, nobody has spotted the little men in white shirts, clinging for life, to the torn-off mast (left side of painting). I’ve entered this into Impressionism Cafe,‘seascapes’

  • Another very similar image, taken within minutes of the first… however, I’ve had much greater difficulty editing the tonal quality in this image compared to the first. I’m not happy with either to be honest… for me(at the moment) the tones in the first image are better than this, while I prefer the image and composition of this one. Taken with Sony Alpha 350, Tokina 19-35mm f3.5-f4.5 Lens. Maybe by tomorrow I’ll decide to chuck both, so feel totally free to critique as honestly as you can… OK – these responses have convinced me to not ‘chuck’ these images. The overall consensus does seem to be slightly in favour of this one over the other, but with the responses they both have had, I will leave both up. Just also want to add that this image (and it’s pair) were not accepted into several groups, despite the moderator’s admission that they DID meet ALL the criteria for admission… FEATURED IN ‘IMPERFECTLY’!

  • Composite image. All image and texture layers taken with Sony Alpha 350, by me. The LARGE view will certainly give a much better appreciation of the many gentle textures used here. Thank you. FEATURED IN ‘BACK IN BLACK’!

  • Model: Elsie / MUA: Raeoni Thankyou for all your comments and words of encouragement .

  • My technical skills have increased a fair bit since I created the first image “Just a Hand” that I posted here on RB some time ago. I thought it might be interesting to see what I could make of the concept now, with the better equipment and skills that I (hopefully) have. The actual image of the hand here is a new shot, using a much better lens and more selective lighting. The textures though are the same ones I used before, though I have blended them differently to attempt to make use of more compositional techniques that I was not aware of when I made the original. There is a link to the original below – I would be most interested in anyone’s opinions re the relative value and interest of each version…
