This piece came to me after a catastrophic event in my life had JUST happened. I just kept wondering how is it we just get up, out of bed, and keep functioning with things, when everything seems lost.

The accident, that specific, identifiable, unexpected, unusual and unintentional external event which occurs in some random time and place. Without apparent cause but with marked effect.its generally negative probabilistic outcome awaits us all. Though it may have been avoided or prevented had circumstances been recognized, and acted upon prior to its occurrence, the accident can often turn our lives in an instant to fortune or failure. I have long held a fascination with the sinographs of Chinese Writing. To be even reasonably fluent in this script one must memorize from 3 to 4 thousand of these detailed logographs. A Kangxi dictionary contains approximately 47,000 distinct characters. The character for Accident decorated in damaged human skin serves to remind us how fragile we all are.

I would like to describe this work as perhaps a true artist could, but I cannot. It is just my true feelings taken to pen and paper.
