I just got that new Crayola Cutter and used it to make this design on a plain piece of paper. Then I scanned it and tinkered around with colors and things…

From the ‘Friends’ Series by karin Taylor comes Flying Saucers….. / / Here’s one I did quite a while ago called ‘Flying Saucers’..... / I had a wonderful time for a while creating these little prints! / I would create a design on paper, transfer it to foam. / Then using a knife, cut into the foam – not all the way thru.. / ink the foam, blot and stamp!!! The best fun ever!!! / Then I hand coloured with pastels!! / If you hadn’t guessed yet, they are cups and saucers :)

Pop Art is a visual art movement that emerged in the mid 1950s in Britain and in parallel in the late 1950s in the United States. Pop Art challenged tradition by asserting that an artist’s use of the mass produced visual commodities of popular culture is contiguous with the perspective of Fine Art since Pop removes the material from its context and isolates the object, or combines it with other objects, for contemplation. The concept of Pop Art refers not as much to the art itself as to the attitudes that led to it.

Collage. Cut the letters out of a magazine clipping of wallpaper. In my office I covered one wall with cork board and created a giant cork board wall. On it I have completely covered it with collaged bits and pieces, photo’s, things that inspire me, cards, everything and anything that I’m attracted too that I constantly collect. Sometimes I’ll take those pieces and collage them together in my journal or just for fun. This one I thought was good enough to be available as a print… hope some of you think so too.
