  • Driving across Mungo Lake (dry), in outback Australia, I looked in the rear view mirror and saw this spectacular scene. I quickly pulled up and took the image. People often ask me what image is my favourite, well, I have several but this one sure is way up the top of the list.

  • Owachomo Natural Bridge in Natural Bridges National Momument in Utah.

  • Owachomo Natural Bridge reflecting in a small pool deep below the bridge in a nearly dry river course. A 3 image blend for maximum dynamic range.

  • Joshua Tree National Park, California. This huge rock has been hollowed out by erosion and has two holes through it. Native Americans left many petroglyphs inside.

  • Volcanoes Pomerape and Parinacota in the high Altiplano of Lauca National Park, on the Chilean/Bolivian border.

  • One of my favourite subjects in the West MacDonnall ranges is Mt. Sonder the third tallest peak in the Northern Territory. Mt. Sonder, West MacDonnall Ranges National Park / Northern Territory / Australia

  • Constant down pours for more than a week have produced some amazing sights around Uluru. Usually bone dry sand and dust is transformed into a tropical garden if only for a short time. • The Garden of Eden comes alive with remarkable amounts of water producing waterfalls only seen a handful of times a year. Kings Canyon, Watarrka National park / Northern Territory / Australia

  • This has to be one of my best images. Ormiston Gorge, West MacDonnell Ranges National Park / Northern Territory / Australia

  • Another of the images from my swim through Redbank Gorge here in the West MacDonnell Ranges. Here it is easy to see the ruggard nature of the gorge with bolders wedged between the walls and deep water to swim through. My partner and her friend went all the way to the end of the gorge while I was content with this location to shoot. With all my gear so wrapped up and protected it was a major production to stop and shoot. A friend took some photos of me and the setup before I started swimming through the gorge. Its a location that is seriously hard to photograph but it has such a potential for amazing images. I think I’ll go back next week and try again. • The Finke river one of the worlds oldest river systems flowed once again this summer. A cloudy sky and the perfect amount of light to record both the shadows and highlights in the range made this a great day for photography. Glen Helen is a spot that I rarely get to shoot because of a limited amount of time and a desire to take part in a tonic lime and bitters at the bar. • Once full rock pools are slowly drying up in the intense heat of summer. Before they do dry up these pools are teaming with both animal and plant life. Some of the more note worthy are fish up to 20cm long many species of frogs and blooming algae. • This image of the Right Mitten framed in between two rocks shows the shadow of the Left Mitten falling across it. The Sky was doing some amazing things behind me and I noticed that most people had truned for the sunset. I steedfast remained shooting into the park. The change in colour taking place in the Valley as the sunset came closer was amazing. The right rock is slightly burned in but I am not one to play in Layers. This is a 3 image HDR given only a slight adjustment. The resulting image was then processed in CS3 with a slight adjustment to straighten the horizion and curves to add a little extra contrast. All 3 images to make the HDR were shot with a Nikon D70 Featured in That One Great Shot / Featured in Top Shelf Wildlife & Nature Art ! / Featured in Mornings and Evenings / Featured in American Southwest / Featured in Dimensions 588 views on the 5th Nov 2009
