  • D.C. Protest I
    by Christopher Barker

    US$3.99–US$91.20

During a relatively peaceful 2002 protest against the World Bank in Washington, D.C., anti-war demonstrators began to change the situational climate of the march. Tensions between protesters and police, who were expecting a violent demonstration, began to rise. Police began to arrest everyone that they managed to surround inside Pershing Park, guilty, as well as innocent bystanders alike. In relative anticipation of the police’s reaction, this young man wrote the telephone numbers of civil defense lawyers on his arms before the demonstrations even began.

These demonstrators were pulled from the crowd, handcuffed and thrown on an awaiting Metro bus. No one was read their rights as bystanders looked on in horror.

Over in RedBubble HQ land, I get asked to do all sorts of things and recently Peter thought it might be funny useful to make some help videos on how to do some typical RedBubble stuff. Here’s the first one on how to make image and text links. So if you ever wanted to be shown and talked through this process or just want to hear what I sound like when I’m trying to act like I know what I’m doing, check it out.

  • D.C. Protest V
    by Christopher Barker

    US$4.66–US$106.40

During a relatively peaceful 2002 protest against the World Bank in Washington, D.C., anti-war demonstrators began to change the situational climate of the march. Tensions between protesters and police, who were expecting a violent demonstration, started to rise. Police began to arrest everyone that they managed to surround inside Pershing Park, guilty, as well as innocent bystanders alike. Demonstrators were pulled from the crowd, handcuffed and thrown on an awaiting Metro bus. This is a panned shot of a police officer moving towards a group of rowdy protesters. The shot is a bit too blurry for my liking, but it gives a sense of the tension that was felt that day. Shot on bulk rolled Ilford 100 with Nikon N90s

  • Shot looking down Swaledale, the light bouncing off the mountain tops, long shadows, the classic view of the North Yorkshire dales, stone barns, stonewalled fields and a river cutting through the steep sides of the valley.. all a product of historical changes that lead to continued riots on and off from the 15th century till late 1800’s. The various Enclosure Acts created the English landscape we see today and despite it’s beauty, it is worth remembering the often bloody poverty and power hungry history that created it.

  • If you have the right or opportunity to vote…vote. Your vote counts or does it (?). Two United States of America election voting results are still in question and doubt as to whether the votes were accounted for by those that voted in 2000 and 2004. The results of those two elections have had world wide repercussions. The political party that won the elections of 2000 and 2004 in America failed and continue to fail and will continue to fail even if they return to power. / The Iranian voters cast their votes and the results echo the American elections of 2000 and 2004…who really won those elections (?). Some Iranians have taken to the street and are protesting and they are in great danger of beatings, arrests and death. It is amazing that in that totalitarian country that citizens would unite in solidarity to voice what they must know is the will of a very few…to control their lives. The Iranians have experience an American style voting result exactly like the Republican Parties coup d’état of 2000 and 2004. / Godspeed to Iran and to all citizens who want to know their votes count and matter and that the privileged few eventually will fail…unite…solidarity…one step at a time…the hope and promise of change.

  • Patriot
    by Christopher Barker

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Veterans of the U.S. military take to the streets in Washington, D.C. to demonstrate and show their support for the government after war was declared in Iraq. Anti-war protesters marched in opposition to the engagement and heavily outnumbered the pro-war supporters. This pro-war demonstrator exchanges words with some of the opposition in this photograph. A human police barricade separated the two.
