Here’s the first one on how to make image and text links. Close up photograph of Blue River. I melted wax crayons with an embossing heat gun and let them run on the canvas. / Building up layers successively. The final work is not that appealing to me but I am really just experimenting and having fun. I plan on playing more with this technique. The close up photo I took is kind of cool. I put more work into inking this than usual. I did the sketch in my sketchbook, tore it out, put tracing paper over it, and inked over the tracing which I scanned to color. The actual coloring part took suprisingly little time, and I’m really rather happy with it. This was inspired by these two gothic girls I saw at Hot Topic. They both had kind of that hair style (though one had dark purple hair and one had black hair with a bright red chunk it it).

I don’t know exactly why, but I just love this image. The Blue Angels just split off in all different directions, and this one seemed to be coming right at me. I love the smoke trails left behind by the remaining jets. HDR Images / Prague Images / Aviation Related Images

The loudspeaker crackles back to life as the crowd is awed by yet another flyby from the Mallard Flight Demo Team: “And approaching from the left, take notice of the two lead birds perform their coveted Mallard Mirror Pass, the trailing Slot Bird will perform a sharp right bank maneuver while the third Mallard will move up into the “missing bird” formation”. The crowd uuhhs and aahhs, shutters are clicking away at 5 frames per second ….. kids screaming in excitement, grown men wiping the tears from their eyes ….. It was another good show. ‘DEMO’ – Wreckers shorthand for ‘Demolish’... BEST VIEWED LARGE On the weekend I had the pleasure of hooking up with my mate Daz (aka MaxHamish) for a spot of photography, which we had planned to do for awhile. / After a caffeine hit in Carlton we decided that although having no plan as such, that we would jump in the car and head ‘west’, hoping to find some ‘cool old buildings’ that might be nice to photograph. Well about 2k down the road we came across the Old Melbourne Brewing and Malting Co.(est.1883) better known as Carlton Brewery, and responsible for the famous Carlton Ale’s. / The facade it seemed was obviously being saved, probably given its very solid state and obvious history, heritage listed. However, it was the lovely derelict interior spaces that caught our eye and we wasted no time taking, in my case,100 or so shots. These are a couple of them, in diptych. MaxHamish

I have been experimenting with wax crayons and a heat gun. I decided to make a little video and upload it to you tube. 1. Compressed Version of Playing with Crayons quicker to load but more blocky with less detail. 2. High Quality Version of Playing with Crayons higher quality with sharper pictures but first time it loads will be probably be very slow. If your internet connection is anything like mine (and mine is broadband). Some notes on this art experiment - 1. Melted wax crayons will leave an oily residue on paper so use canvas/ canvas paper. 2. Embossing heat gun will scorch paper if you hold too close too long. 3. Wax is light if you break it into small pieces and watch out for the heat gun blowing it away if you hold it too close – be gentle or use long barbeque tongs. 4. Hot – be careful :) 5. This was soooo much fun to do!!
