Some exciting news for those who prefer cotton as their canvas. We’ve just launched a brand new t-shirt competition with a prize so awesome, you’ll be desperate get your ink-stained mitts on it. The lovely folks at London street wear store Demo have fallen for the charms of the talented RedBubble t-shirt designers and they’ve asked us to run another design competition. So we’ve cranked up the random theme generator and we think it’s come up with a winner. The theme is ‘Sound’. That’s right, the stuff you can hear. It’s is open to wide interpretation so you could choose to cover anything from music through to cochlear implants. Demo head honcho Christian has volunteered to put on his Simon Cowell hat and pull his strides up nice and high and he’ll be picking a winner from a shortlist chosen by the community. If you’d like the chance to get your t-shirt design in the front window of Demo then head on over here for all the details. The winning t-shirts from our last comp are just about to go into the shop. We’ll be doing a post covering all the excitement, laughter and tears of joy direct from Carnaby Street shortly. In the meantime, dig out your finest art supplies and get designing. Nat

After many cups of tea, heated debates and a fair bit of chin rubbing the good folks at Demo have come back to us with their final choices from the Sound Competition finalists. They have demanded five shirts and who are we to say no. So without further ado, the envelope. And the five winners are (drum solo … ahem, I mean roll) ... / / / In First Place: Ine Spee’s Whistle Boy … Followed closely in second by Cathie T’s Wired From Birth … Then next over the line is Scott Robinson’s Audiohive Electric … Follwed by Nick Ford’s Hard Roctopus … And in at number five we have DieselLaws’ Music Head A huge round of applause to the winners and a massive thanks to everyone who took part! The standard of entries was incredibly high making it a really tough competition. You can check out all the fabulous entries here. The two runners up get ten shirts displayed in the store. Silver and Bronze have 20 each and Gold gets 30 shirts and their shirt displayed in the shop window for all the Carnaby Street shoppers to admire. In related Demo competition news, we should also congratulate Jumpy who has just had his entry from the first Demo comp picked up by a UK tee company! Well done to Jumpy and to the Sound comp winners. You’ve done us proud! Nat
Sort of a bittersweet moment, apparently the West Coast Demo team will no longer perform at airshows with the F-15. To mark the “retirement” this F-15 was hosed down by two firetrucks as it returned from it’s last tactical flight demo. Nikon D300, Sigma 50-500mm.
Self – part of the Goddesses, Myths and Monsters series. Miru is a Polynesian demonic goddess who dwells in her underworld, beneath the islands. She devours the souls of men after drugging them with kava, a drink brewed from the roots of kava plant that has similar effects to alcohol…then cooks and eats them in her eternally burning ovens.

It’s a bio-mechanical beast that lives inside a guitar amp. Simple. The tee: / Detail: /
With this image I cut out a guitar from a photo of my brother in law jamming on Easter 2007. I cleaned it up, put it through my filter gallery, added the poster edges effect, then I cloned some spots to darken some areas. I also added some shadow on the bottom of the guitar with my basic brushes (photoshop brushes). I then added swirls (photoshop brushes) and erased some parts of it. For the background I added angel wings (photoshop brushes) and put some style to them. I gave them somewhat of an invisible look so whatever color shirt you choose, the wings will be that color. I also added some hearts (photoshop brushes) because we all have that love for music. Underneath the guitar, I added some musical notes (photoshop brushes) to give it that nice touch. Then I said to myself, what the hell, I will add some splatter paint to it to give some extra color and for more of a playful look. For the colors, I altered the colors with my image adjustments. I fixed the contrast, added highlights, and made an auto color adjustment. This is my entry for the music machines challenge

It’s raining in Londontown, as you’d expect, but in the hearts of our five Music Machines winners I reckon the Sun is doing some sort of tango with a blue sky, a butterfly and possibly a squirrel. A final cheer for goaferboy, douglasbot, Greg Wade, rubyred and Naf4d whose shirts are all snugly displayed in Demo and being steadily rotated around window, door and rack. Good work peoples. Any Bubbler in the vicinity of Carnaby Street should get themselves down and check out the quality merchandise. Until next time my little cotton lovers.
