  • As it is titled…homeless man in Sydney.

  • They just don’t make things to last these days. But it would be nice if your could get them home first. Watercolour

  • (C) 2008 J.J.DEGRADE

  • Not exactly ruined beauty, this abandoned building has a beauty now in its state of decay that it probably never possessed before it died. On Central Avenue not far from downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, this structure will probably be demolished soon to make way for a new condominium. Digital photo taken with an HP Photosmart R818 and processed in PhotoShop. / See also: / / Urban Ruins / / Beauty in Ruin / / Urban Blight / / On The Fence / / Pink Unloved / / Bare Bones

  • Close up of an old dumpster at a construction site

  • nice yellow and blue!

  • I’ve been posting some images taken with a really wide variety of cameras…. some digital…. some old SLR stuff and even something from a home made camera and today I’ve been scanning some really eccentric images taken with a tiny instatmatic camera. This funny old 126 film camera is like something you would give a child to play with but hey I’m up for anything that will return me an image…. and to really make it more interesting I’ve used some reallly old film I got at a garage sale about 15 years ago and hung on to ‘just in case’ ..... so the film is way out of date and degraded and basically total crap…... in other words this is a combination of film and camera that is right up my street…..:) The negatives are a square format and have proved somewhat tricky to scan but I’ve been fiddling about with it…..it was that or finish a thesis….... and put together three shots of the palm tree just outside my window….. I think its pretty cool and would love to know what you lot out there think of it…. as you can see I have done pretty much nothing to the image except to put them together in a row… no colour adjustment of cloning out defects or whatever…. this is how they really look …..enjoy

  • yes yes its another 126 film tryptich from my little instamatic camera of some flowers in my wild and impossibly overgrown garden. the low tech possiblities of this funny little camera are really delighting me…..

  • Humans are rarely confronted with the realities of their actions in their own life time…............. This image was created to support a campaign to increase awareness on the degradation and irresponsible use of our rivers, waterways and wetlands particularly the Murray Darling Basin :)) Images are a collage of shots I have taken around South Australia, including Murray River and Coorong areas. • old abandoned balcony

  • ©2008, Acrylic and paper transfer. The blueprint for a nuclear energy facility holds a strong symbolic message about todays society.

  • Emu tracks following a fence line through a salt degraded water hole along the Coorong National Park South Australia. My apologies to those who have been visiting lately, I have been away from RB for some time and just starting to catch up on images and comments. This image was uploaded after constant harassment from a fellow bubbler Smarti77 who has always liked it and wanted me to test the waters here on RB. Canon 400D 18 -55 with polarising filter.

  • I’ve been going through some boxes of very old negatives sorting and scanning stuff to file achives and in among some shots of the kids and whatnot I found a strip of negatives I’d taken of the moon through a telescope some fifteen years ago. I’d completely forgotten about them and most likely when I shot them I would have found them to be not of a particularly good quality and so put them away somewhere to get back to ‘later’. Well it’s later… much much later in fact and now that they have come to light again I’m really really pleased with them…. nothing like letting the negs of some cheapo film moulder in a box for fifteen years to bring out the latent artistic qualities in a series of images…. so here is the first of a small series of shots of the moon …. these have been scanned and resized in Photoshop and a little bit of contrast adjustment … but that my dears is all that’s been done to them…. they are exactly as they are on the negs… in fact all the grunge and dirt of them is a big part of the charm of them to be honest…. so a grungy orange moon / . /

  • a really filthy 15 year old negative of a shot of the moon taken through a telescope attachment….nothing like cheap film and a bit of neglect to get that truely grungy feel to an image…. :) / . /

  • well the title says it all… this time the background emulsion of this 15 year old film has gone all brown and green… no joke I can’t even imagine how stressed this film got while it rested in a big box of old negatives for decades waiting for me to get to it…. and coz it’s been so long since I even thought about it… I can’t remember which way up the moon was…. straight scan from the neg with a bit of resizing and that’s all folks / . /

  • Going through some old folders this week and found another image from some time ago when walking in areas way off the River Murray main area. This is where salt has taken over old swamp lands. This area has been in this poor condition for a long time and was nothing to do with current water levels. The stormy clouds on the day threw great colours from the salt. Taken between Renmark and Berri in South Australia. Canon 400D with CIR Polariser on 18-55 kit lens.

  • Cameron Highlands, Malaysia “but it is convenient…” says the fallible homo homo sapiens -Canon EOS Rebel XT, 85-300mm

  • Pink salt slick in the backwater area of the Noora Evaporation basin between Berri and Renmark South Australia. This area is severely degraded but is a significant distance from River Murray main and has been in this condition for years. It is a sorry sight to see and the area has a real feel of death and desolation. The storms clouds in the distance brought some much needed rain to the area during the night. Thanks to Dave Hartley for joining me on this excursion. Three shot panoramic using a Canon 400D, 17-85 lens with Polarising filter. Stitched in Photoshop CS3.
