  This is an illustration I did of my favorite musician, Chino Moreno. If you don’t know him. He’s the lead singer of the band Deftones. I didn’t have any reason to do this except as a kind of tribute to a person I admire. I left out some of his tattoos. This was done very quickly so there wasn’t much attention to detail. It’s a fairly simple image. I added the red water as more of an experiment. I wanted another elements in the image, but I never got around to it..

  On Stage with the deftones during the Warped Festival in Angelsea, Victoria in 1999. The place got to be a dustbowl, and Chino does his thing on the barrier. This is a scan from an old Kodak disposable I had at the time. There’s a lot of sky in the picture but I think it contrasts the density of activity in the lower half of the picture. The show was so loud and powerful, it’s almost as if the dust was stirred by just the music alone.

  Chino

  I have been heavily influenced by music and I like to get painting with some tunes blasting away. Chino Moreno is the lead singer of the Deftones and one of my favourite bands. I saw them play live in 1997 and I was blown away by the enegy he whipped up on stage. I wanted to try and recapture that energy and some of the poses he placed himself in. This is my first attempt and I plan to try again at a later date.

  Chino II

  I had painted a portrait of Chino Morino before, and like WyldeR I have returned for a re-imagining of the Deftones lead singer. I thought I’d try something new this time, I set about completing this piece using only straight lines. I used different brushes and brush strokes in comparison to what I am accustom to. The end result was alot better than I envisaged and just might be a technique I pursue in future.
