  • There was a time when our dreams felt so real / Just out of reach but not too far to feel / Together we’d finally make them come true / ‘Cause anythings possible when I was with you / But they kept on saying we’d never amount to anything…. All of the dreams we built up from the ground / They never believed them they just tore them down / We will rebuild them from the start, we will rebuild them from the heart ‘Cause once all we wanted seemed so far away / But with every step it was closer each day / The more that we tried it was within our grasp / The more that they told us that it wouldn’t last / And everyone said we were crazy for giving up everything…. All of the dreams we built up from the ground / They never believed them they just tore them down / We will rebuild them from the start, we will rebuild them from the heart From the heart / From the heart / From the heart All of the dreams we built up from the ground / They never believed them they just tore them down / We will rebuild them from the start, we will rebuild them from the heart All of the dreams we built up from the ground / They never believed them they just tore them down / We will rebuild them from the start, we will rebuild them from the heart From the heart / From the heart From The Heart – Hoobastank

  • On Zazzle / On DeviantART / ArtRage 2.5 and graphics tablet / There are many stories of dragons. Wild, blatant fancies and ancient legends of fire and eggs, mist and flame. Of taloned mosters and reptilian mages. Of cunning wyrms and low, crawling beasts. Some tell of mute, ferocious animals, children of earth and flesh. Others proclaim sly creatures of darkness, lurking venom and cruelly slitted eyes. Yet others laud the gracefully scaled spirits of the air, the bright and majestic roaring flames, the shining talons, the clever speeches and shining hoards… This is not one of those. This is the Child of the Sea, who melds with water, and flows with the waves. This is the Daughter of Salt, shining and precious, invisible in the vast seas and yet hidden in every drop. This is the seadragon, who brings the water to life with her turbulence, creating kinspirits from the froth and foam of her passing, and from sleek shining water, and the glimmer of sunlight on a droplet forms her scales… / This is the leaping splash that startles sailors, the dancing krakenmaid flying out with the spray. Old, old and deep as the seas, resting in the dark waters before the first fish formed from her tiny kin, and young, young and new formed with every wave. Everywhere and nowhere, she leaps up, dragging forth wings out of waves, dancing on the swells, whirls and rises and falls, crashing water, shining scales… You will never see her. Be grateful for a quiet life. ArtRage 2.5 and graphics tablet / About 10 hours. Dragonlings slightly easier to see in the WIP but more have been added since. Have you seen them? / Lineart This was one of my longest and I enjoyed it a lot, and learnt a lot, and …well, there’s a part of my head still rushing around in the waves there

  • Inspired by the song of the same title. / I know there are several and brilliant versions of this song; nevertheless, I wanted to bring back the original version by The Bee Gees, linking this image to a clip from the movie where it was first heard _ Saturday Night Fever. / How Deep Is Your Love

  • Macro of a red rose with waterdrops taken with a Samsung GX20 and a Sigma 50mm macro lens. Straight from the camera (except for the RAW conversion process). Roses are ancient symbols of love and beauty. The rose was sacred to a number of goddesses (including Isis and Aphrodite), and is often used as a symbol of the Virgin Mary. ‘Rose’ means pink or red in a variety of languages (such as Romance languages, Greek, and Polish). A red rose (often held in a hand) is a symbol of socialism or social democracy: it is used as a symbol by British, Irish, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Brazilian, Dutch and other European labor, socialist or social democratic parties. This originated when the red rose was used as a badge by the marchers in the May 1968 street protests in Paris. The White Rose was a World War II non violent resistance group in Germany. A bouquet of red roses is often used to show love. It is used as a Valentine’s Day gift in many countries. On St George’s Day in Catalonia people offer dark red roses as gifts, especially between lovers. The Virolai, a hymn to the Virgin of Montserrat, one of the black Madonnas of Europe, begins with the words: “Rosa d’abril, Morena de la serra…” (April rose, dusky lady of the mountain chain…). Therefore this virgin is sometimes known as “Rosa d’abril”. The red rose is thus widely accepted as an unofficial symbol of Catalonia.

  • “Deep Blue” was inspired by the works of Sara Teasdale, one of my favourite romantic poets..she often mentions “the deep blue night” in her work and after starting this latest in the series of symbolic portraits I knew that Sara once more had influenced the outcome…the setting is the night and though there is the impression of dense tropics, the cool deep blues convey a feeling of winter…the cry “is there no peace on earth” is reflected in the haunted eyes of her face…the frigidity of a “wind blowing through (the) soul” is reflected in the movement of the foliage where she appears to be entrapped, pleading for release, yet longing to stay.. A wind is blowing over my soul, / I hear it cry the whole night through— / Is there no peace for me on earth / Except with you? Alas, the wind has made me wise, / Over my naked soul it blew,— / There is no peace for me on earth / Even with you. • October is a month of mixed emotions…fall is so beautiful…the air crisp and clean…the skies bluer than blue…there is no other sound like that of the crunch of leaves underfoot as you go for a Sunday walk…but there is a feeling of regret that the joys of summer are gone…the warmth of the sun will now be gone for months…but for the children Hallowe’en brings it’s promise of sweet things…for us in Canada, thanksgiving is just around the corner…the painting seeks to incorporate all that is October in one radical hit…the colours, the sadness, the promise, the celebrations...
