This building has no visible floor, instead you tread on loose soil. I believe conveyors were fed through each of these small windows and this building was involved in the production of some of the smaller caliber shells used during the war. The Kingsbury Ordnance plant sat upon land acquired by the us government during ww2. some 13,000 acres were designated for this facility and it was operated throughout the war and then once again reopened for the Korean conflict. This is one of my favorite abandonments to visit.

The defensive Tower house of Smailholm, just over the Scottish border, near Kelso. The tower was built in the mid 1400’s at a time when lawlessness and violent bands of reivers, ravaged the lands both sides of the English-Scottish border. And a solitary white swan, resides below the Tower Even today, the landscape is lonely, and you can easily imagine the starkness of those dark days. Dreary dull, grey, original digital photograph. / Lots of photoshop layers and borrowed sunset from my bonny Northumberland, Budle Bay photo. Inversion and refining with digital painting….. it would have been easier to conventionally paint this!!

Angler fish really are quite remarkable creatures! They live in the deep deep sea, further down than the light can reach, so to lure their prey in total darkness, they have rigged up a system of light emitting devices. They are not turned on here (as he is in the light, and they use up a lot of power so he only turns them on when he is hungry). Watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte on canvas.

Moore, August 12, 2009 / Dimensions: 5000×3335 pixels, 300 dpi Special thanks to stock providers, Odessa11stock, CAStock, and B_SquaredStock. ** / FEATURES 2009-08-16 The Deep Sleep in Abstract Digital Art and Writing The Deep Sleep was my portion of a “practice” collaboration with Isa Rodriguez for an “Exquisite Corpse” game. An artists game, it goes like this: one artist starts an artwork of an “exquisite corpse”, and another artist finishes it, seeing only about an inch of the first one’s artwork. The inch that Isa got to see was the last inch of the top half, right across the eye and hands, city reflection on her dress and part of one leg. Other than that, everything was BLACK when she got this 5000×3335, 300 dpi, piece. It’s up to Isa if she wants to show you what she did with her half, as this was just “practice”. It’s tougher than she thought to tie in to someone else’s work. Next time, she will create the first piece, and I will tie in to hers. A requirement of the game is that both artists work in the same medium; and, while we both work in digital, I tend toward detail form, even if abstract concepts; and Isa leans fully toward abstraction. That makes it tougher on the other to tie in to the first piece. I’m excited to get the next one from Isa and try my hand at that end of it. Just to be clear, this is not the collaboration, but it is what I contributed to the collaboration. I hope this description doesn’t mess with anyone’s idea of what The Deep Sleep is “about”.
