A black and white pastel on black acid free paper of the beautiful, cascading Horseshoe Waterfalls, Australia. What delight we felt when we first discovered this. It was located at the end of our street where we used to live and was only a 5 minute walk, that took us to a peaceful place where we could forget the world for a while. It is still only a 10 minute drive away. Waterfalls are usually geological formations resulting from water, often in the form of a stream flowing over an erosion-resistant rock that forms a nickpoint or sudden break in elevation. Whatever the description waterfalls are a natural wonder and there are some breathtaking ones all over the world. The waterfall drops its sparkling veil / covering its rock face leaving slippery trails / twinkling drops of water bursting in the light / its beauty never ending even at night! A loose watercolour painting with touches of acrylic on Arches paper. Imagine an evening stroll along a hidden trail as the sun is setting throwing its warm glow across the shady trees… I did and this is what I created. Nothing like a glorious night to motivate one for a walk! Evening Stroll The sky was alight to my delight / oh my look at those colours what a sight! / Let’s go for a stroll I said to my dog / the night is clear, no rain, no fog. The flowers were dancing their colours aglow / the tree branches swaying putting on a show / the night lit up we were bathed in light / Oh for sure this was a glorious night! Loose wet in wet watercolour on Arches paper 8×10”. I dropped the colours where I wanted and shaped the painting. My main aim was to create a landscape out of my mind using brilliant colours. Sundown The day is over the air is still / the sun is setting over the hill. / Rainbow colours fill the land / Created by the sun’s hand. The light is slowly falling / and the night is softly calling. / The pallet of colours will surely fade / and soon all will be covered in shade. Linda Callaghan This was painted to go with Twilight but was not sure whether to load but decided to today. FEATURED IN: BITS AND PIECES / CREATIVE CARDS

A little tattered round the edges, but still strong at heart, and beautiful. A 40cm x 40cm acrylic painting on canvas of maple leaves. It was raining here one day so I grabbed my camera and went and took some photos of the glistening Japanese Maple leaves in our garden. I decided to paint them on a canvas painted black to show off their colours and add contrast and was very pleased with the outcome. Maple Leaves See the leaves on the maple tree / The rain has gone, they blow wild and free… / Sparkling raindrops settle and gleam / A delightful show that must be seen!
