views: 1942 / favs: 54 My origami calendar I used tweezers to create the last few folds. The paper I folded with was about 15×15mm big. Basically I present the creator and the creation where the crane is framed by my fingers forming a circle. We can only understand size, fragility and significance when we compare two things. When we think, for example, how big the world is, we’re like tiny little specks of sand, or even atoms, to the eyes of a God holding the earth in his palm. / / For a better idea of scale: / / / I did not make this crane and take the picture with the description in my mind; but created it by instinct. It wasn’t easy drawing out my words initially. However many viewers have left very inspiring comments about my work, and for that I am grateful. Image captured this afternoon on my walk around Uluru. Having been thoroughly drenched by yet another stormy shower (I had to wrap the camera in a plastic bag), I was amazed to turn around and find this beautiful view as the rain cleared and the sun returned. Toklat in his zen mode draped over the top stair, after a rough day hiking and playing. I named him Toklat, which is a river and glacier in the Denali National Park and Preserve, after doing some editing and layout work for the Denali park service. Toklat is a very sweet and uncomplicated dark-chocolate Retriever. He doesn’t chase moose. I hope he won’t chase bears. Taken for a challenge in the “Man’s Best Friend” group, and, well, because I can’t resist taking photos of our two Labs. Toklat placed in the top ten of the “Man’s Best Friend” challenge. You should see him when he gets excited (this isn’t the time). Toklat’s looks earned him a feature at “Man’s Best Friend” – Thank you! I love rainy, overcast, windy days. Someone has to, I suppose. The pink/purple of the fireweed has yet to reach its full splendor.
