  • The Spirit of Progress was the premier express train passenger service on the Victorian Railways in Australia, running from Melbourne to the Victorian border, and later through to Sydney. These art-deco era wings, surrounding the grand initials VR served as the only adornment on the hood of the streamlined S class steam locomotives which hauled this train in its heyday. Celebrate the history of this magnificent train with this majestic wings motif emblazoned on a tee shirt. Note: This logo is reproduced here on the fair assumption that it is considered abandoned, as it represents an entity and train service that no longer exists.

Paul Renner was first and foremost an artist. As a typographer Renner combined aspects of the traditional and modern styles. Renner disliked much about modern culture but admired its sense of functionality. During the era of Art Deco Renner designed the font Futura. The geometrically constructed font defines that of the Bauhaus Movement. *The date in the design refers to the time in which the Futura family was created. Additional designs: /

deco – information provided by wikipedia:

Art Deco was a popular international design movement from 1920 until 1939, affecting the decorative arts such as architecture, and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as fashion, painting, the graphic arts, and film. This movement was, in a sense, an amalgam of many different styles and movements of the early 20th century, including Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, Bauhaus, Art Nouveau, and Futurism. Its popularity peaked in Europe during the Roaring Twenties and continued strongly in the United States through the 1930s. Although many design movements have political or philosophical roots or intentions, Art Deco was purely decorative. At the time, this style was seen as elegant, functional, and ultra modern.
