The title has two meanings. Holyrood palace is beautiful, but like any place with history, it has it’s darker moments. Likewise the sky was picturesque, but the night would end with 70 mph gale force winds whipping through the streets of Edinburgh. Edinburgh, Scotland / December 31, 2006

This Oil Painting 16 X 20 stretched canvas is of the predawn fog at Deception Pass Bridge, Washington. Deception Pass, located at the northern end of Puget Sound, is a treacherous, narrow channel with turbulent waters, rapid tidal action, and rocky outcrops. It separates the high bluffs of Whidbey Island from those of Fidalgo Island. A rocky islet, Pass Island, rises in the mouth of the pass and divides it into two channels.
