Foggy morning scene in December…. Click to see some of my other categories- – Autumn Collection / – Flowers / - Wildlife / - Christmas & Other Cards / - Clothing
This shot was taken on the first of the four winter days which we had in December. The hoarfrost was nothing what it was to become the next two days, but there was already some of it after a frosty night. Colours were intriguingly subdued due to the morning mist! And is WAS cold! Actually this is one of the few days that I not only carried my tripod along, but actually used it. Light conditions were just very poor this morning. Taken in the forests near Hilversum/The Netherlands. Near Hilversum, 20th December 2007, 0.23 pm / Nikon D 80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 120 mm / F 13, 1/3, ISO 200
Background with frozen branches covered in snow. / This is one of the first shots I took with a digital camera. It is from my living room window, last December.

This morning’s sunrise was an outstanding show of color, clouds and movement….the winds blew strong over Longs Peak as I watched in awe of the day as she came alive….the clouds seemed to be floating with purpose across the peak, taking the birds along with them…..the sky was filled with life…. I never cease to be inspired and amazed by each new morning that I am blessed to see…..and I am thankful to be alive….. Estes Park, Colorado.

I gave this Christmas cactus to my mother a couple of years ago; it’s huge now! This is only a small detail of that gorgeous plant which blooms just in time for Christmas each year.

Another cyclist shot, this time taken yesterday on a very cold December morning. To my shame I must admit that this cyclist was much braver than I was yesterday, as this time I took the car to get to this lane near Hilversum. Near Hilversum, 28th December 2008, 11.10 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 200 mm / F 8, 1/50, ISO 200
This was taken at Niagara Falls State Park, NY on 12/29/2008. The body of water is the Niagara River. Sunset taken facing Canadian side. A Canon 50D with a 17-70mm lens. The weather was wicked warm for December but quite windy.
Taken Just south of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada at 5:00PM December 30th 2008. That is a tiny crescent moon in The Sky! MY BUBBLESITE
Amsterdam in December can have a special charm. There are quite some tourists around who know it, but the city is still less crowded than usual. And the haze of a frosty December day together with the late-afternoon sun-light create a very special atmosphere. I am very glad we went there yesterday, as today clouds have covered the sky and so nothing of this special atmosphere is left. Actually you know this bit of the River Amstel already from another shot, taken on an evening in June. The river was busy then, and it was peaceful now. And the light was ever so different. The building of the Carré heatre stands out as prominantly on the one picture as on the other, however. this is our christmas tree, my wife takes great pride in the decorating process, iit is nine feet tall. It is decorated with some rather pricey ornaments, and some ornaments are heirlooms. I also love the reflection in the window!

Backyard, Cornwall, Ontario, Canada / December 5th, 2009 Out earlyish that morning, I noticed the moon had not set yet, so I nipped back inside and got the camera. This has been edited a bit – I played with the shadows/highlights and the contrast levels to darken the sky and to bring out the highlights on the moon’s surface. I took this sunset last year in Upstate NY. I had never seen anything like it. That giant streak up to heaven was just magnificent! Enjoy!
