He sits proudly / Look at him sitting there on his high Ass. His silly hat and coat that barely covers his own ass. He enjoys his prize, and we all don’t.
A picture of part of a ward in an abandoned mental asylum. I think this picture is given an extra spooky edge and a bit of a story by the fact that one of the beds has a pair of shoes sitting waiting at the bottom as if the occupant may be back any minute.
An old abandoned Farm house in Yorkshire, a place called Crow edge, not much left now, The person i went with today told me she used to play in here when she was a child, it was empty then!! such a shame, this really was a beautiful house, more pics to follow soon of the outside.
I imagine this room once contained other furniture to keep this wee little chair company, but not any more. He sits alone in the middle of the room looking out towards the door wondering where all his buddies have gone, now its just him and the light fittings in here, and everyone knows how stuck up they can be!
A quick view of the outside of the building ,standing tall and defiant against the vandalism and damage that has attacked her inner sanctum. Hopefully one day this place could be recovered and the broken insides replaced, though i doubt it will happen. This place really is a beautiful place, and certainly something i will be making a point of visiting again when i am in the area to cover some of the rooms and locations i didn’t get time for on this occasion.
And for the final shot of this site, a shot of the facade of the building and the small driveway leading up to it. Scotland has quite a few lovely buildings which have been abandoned of them, this is but one of many wonderful treasures the country has.
Metal straps hold planks of wood together to form the rudder of a boat. Both the straps and the wood show signs of age and decay. The image has been rotated 90 degrees cloclwise. 453 Views as at 15/11/09.
I walked a mile with Pleasure. / She chattered all the way, / But left me none the wiser / For all she had to say. I walked a mile with Sorrow, / And ne’er a word said she; / But oh, the things I learned from her / When Sorrow walked with me. This is the main corridor you would have walked into had you come in the main entrance when this asylum was open. The boards in white on the back wall give directions to the various parts of the hospital and the plaque in the middle pays homage to the staff of this asylum who gave their lives in the world wars. Again the water on the floor provides some lovely reflections and symmetry here.

An abandoned Victorian Italianate style house (c.1880-90) in Annandale, an inner city suburb of Sydney. Sitting proudly in a corner position of this hip and happening suburb, it had once been loved and cared for – if you look closely, you can see that one of the previous owners, at some stage, installed an alarm – a measure sure to deter possible intruders. Today, some of the lacework is missing, the fence posts have deteriorated, the concrete probably has cancer, the garden is full of weeds, steps to the front door are missing…will nobody love it anymore?

This building could easily be renovated into a beautiful dwelling, surrounded by hills and mountains, river close by, golf course on its doorstep, situated on the edge of a small market town in Mid Wales, ..... The worn remains of a fish trap fence reaching out into the Coorong near Salt Creek South Australia. Nature is slowly working away at these remnants reducing many of them to small sticks just standing in place. Canon 400D 18-55 CIR Polarising filter and slight curves in Photoshop CS3.
A timeless scene captured in the wonders of dr5 black and white film processing. The Scituate Reservoir is the largest body of fresh water in Rhode Island. The road over the dam that keeps the water within the reservoir has some of the most beautiful views in inland Rhode Island. This historic look was acheived by aiming an antique AGFA Clack camera directly into the sun. No digital manipulation was employed. (c) Paul Lavallee 2007 /
Studies going as far back as that of Goethe in the early 1700s have understood that pale green – the colour of new plant growth – is the most psychologically positive and restful colour… So I wonder what the authorities were trying to do to the already fragile minds of patients locked in shocking pink, electric green, and custard yellow cells? The more I look at my shots, the more clues to inherent barbarity I begin see in the treatment of vunerable people.
Another image from my ‘green room’ series, shot at ABM. This time I elected to concentrate on light and composition instead of colour. It would have been so easy to crank up the red on the ‘Ladder Safety’ poster… but I like the darker B&W mood here rather more. At full magnification it is still possible to read every word of the ‘Ode to Roger’ pinned on the noticeboard.

The Black Queen’s Bishop (The Shaman) / Artist: Simon Sherry / Biography: Danny Descendants of an ancient race, the Shaman have links to the old ways, ways observed before man was the dominant species of the world. The shaman is spiritual overlord of the army and is answerable only to the king. Legend has it the ancestors of the king tricked the shaman – even then a dying breed- to serve him and in doing so bound their loyalty to all kings that followed for all time. / Shaman have become an intricate link in the chain that have evolved into the Armies of the Black Spear and it’s development into the warrior nation it has now become. The Shaman through majik and selective breeding have created the Black Knights, Monoliths, Basilisk and Pawn Spawn that take to the battlefield. The Shaman does not regret or harbor resentment for things past and is totally loyal to the king and the betterment of the Army of the Black Spear. The Shaman splits itself into two distinct personalities when it enters the battle controlling each body with either side of its brain. Left for Queen – Right for King. Read more of the Shaman here

A couple of spares coming up for my calendar of dying roses blended with photos of rusting metalic textures. I had to go back to this one – loved the vintage ‘headdress’ it is wearing!
